The rest of the field hopes they are out.

Duke’s RPI is #8. I can’t see how they get left out.

My gut now tells me at large:
Brown
Cornell
Penn/Yale loser
Princeton
Duke
ND
Rutgers
UVA
OUT
OSU
BU/ARMY LOSER
JACK
HARVARD
OF course I'm assuming a MD win, and A GT Win.

Lost to Jax, Jax is out, lost to Loyola, Loyola is out, played well
but lost to Penn, lost to Syracuse.
Their RPI will come closer to bunching up with some other
teams, so those losses will come into play.
Bombing out when you had a can’t lose game in hand,
but still lost …
Re: Is Duke In Or Out After That Loss To Notre Dame?
I think Virginia should (and will) be in the field, but they do not hold up particularly well in the blind resume test.
Will be difficult to leave Duke out with the #8 RPI.
OSU is probably cooked, sadly

Re: Is Duke In Or Out After That Loss To Notre Dame?
Agreed.
OSU has serious gripes.
And if anyone says "well, they should have beat Rutgers or Maryland," I'll just note Notre Dame's resume. Easy to look good and like you're coming together as a team when you're playing Cuse x2, Marquette, UNC, and Duke x2.

I think Duke’s selection or not will tell us exactly what methodology the committee is using. Given that we don’t know what it is, I don’t know how we could predict their inclusion.
If quality wins and losses matter, Duke is out. If we’re talking straight RPI, they’re in.

Agree. If the Committee relies heavily on quality wins and “bad” losses, Duke’s RPI will not save them.MoralTerpitude wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 3:07 pm I think Duke’s selection or not will tell us exactly what methodology the committee is using. Re: Is Duke In Or Out After That Loss To Notre Dame?
Yes, but Duke is a top-10 RPI team, so ND has that going for them. Though perhaps only one of those wins counts, since the other was by only one goal.
Re: Is Duke In Or Out After That Loss To Notre Dame?
IIRC RPI is a function of 25% your record, 50% your opponents' records absent the game they played against you, and 25% the records of your opponents records. As a result losses to 14-3 J'ville, 9-5 Penn, and 8-8 Loyola probably don't hurt and might even incrementally help the Devils' RPI

Depending on the Committee’s approach to selection, Duke’s high RPI might end up helping Duke’s opponents more than Duke.calourie wrote: ↑Sat May 07, 2022 3:11 pmIIRC RPI is a function of 25% your record, 50% your opponents' records absent the game they played against you, and 25% the records of your opponents records. When Denver beat OSU in Columbus back in March, you knew that'd come back to haunt them. And it will. Otherwise, their 4 losses were all on the road or neutral site to Rutgers, Cornell, and Maryland.
Gotta feel bad for OSU when they likely get left out. Sure, they could have made things easier on themselves had they beat RU or MD; but you could make that same argument for ND..who, oh...also lost to OSU.
But anyway, on to the NCAAT. Should be fun.
