I think Spalding has more high-level talent, but StM is well-rounded and has generally played better as a team this year.
Gonna go against my gut and say Spalding wins by a couple.

St Marys has 19 D1 commits. You can’t get much more high level than that.kramerica.inc wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 12:55 pm I think Spalding has more high-level talent, but StM is well-rounded and has generally played better as a team this year.

St Marys has better players are every position except Spaldings elite middie
St Marys wins this one by a few

Not all D1 commits are created equal. But fair enough.Jumbo wrote: ↑Thu May 05, 2022 1:03 pmSt Marys has 19 D1 commits. I think Spalding has more impact and "difference makers" than St Mary's. And plays with an edge. That helps them at home. But St Mary's plays much better as a team and is deeper. I think St Mary's SHOULD win, but I'm always wrong with my picks so I'm sticking with AS by a couple.

Spalding gets an open net goal at the end to win 8-6 in a game that was close throughout.
Re: **********The MIAA "A" Conference 2022**************
It’s like st Mary’s is hitting a slump at the worst time.

Starting to wonder if Spalding wins it all, and, like BL last year, defeats three teams in the playoffs who beat them in the regular season. For Spalding, those teams are, in no order:
BL
Calvert Hall
McDonogh
BL
Calvert Hall
McDonogh

Welcome to the MIAA. It's brutal.
Even the teams in the bottom half of the standings have kids going to D1 programs like UVA, Upenn, Army, Navy, Hobart etc.
Just 6-10 instead of 19.

19's nevertheless a very high number these days, as that's 9.5 per class. Wasn't so strange during ER as it covered more classes. Basically a full first and second string of D1 players...usually there's a bunch of D3 mixed in. Fewer D2's out of MIAA, though a few.
And I doubt that St. Mary's has ever had that # of D1 in back to back classes before, though I could be incorrect.

This year's 19 includes both '22 and '23 classes.
And that does not include a few D3s and couple D2s that have been announced. There are often a lot of kids who don't announce or get picked up by Inside lacrosse database. Also a number of senior D1 adds are kids who fill-in to classes who might have a kid back out of commitment or get hurt etc.
StM has been doing well lately. The '20-'21 classes had about 18-20 (combined) D1 kids too. They seem to have a good relationship with High Point. Kind of how Severn has had lots of kids going to Navy.

Very large #, but I hear you that there are various levels of D1, of course.
IL has them with 16 D1's and some D3's. Dickinson, Roanoke, Aurora, and one D2.
16 sounds more like it...But you may have a better list...still a lot!
No surprise that Jon Torpey is tapping into MIAA schools, given he's a CHC alum, but I think they only have one St.M kid on their current roster.

Caught StP v Gilman today in a monsoon. Sloppy at times as expected in the conditions. Crusies controlled start to finish 11-5. Dominated the faceoff and gb game.

With so many tie breakers in play, the playoffs, in essence, start tonight for all the teams with 6 or less wins. And the top two seeds (that get byes) are not set in stone, either,KI Dock Bar wrote: ↑Mon May 09, 2022 8:17 am BL - 7-2 @ StP

Alright, everyone! From what it sounds like, and I could be wrong:
-BL and St. Mary's have byes
-the opening games will be Spalding-McDonogh and Calvert Hall-Severn
Does anyone know which winner BL and St. Mary's will face?

Re: **********The MIAA "A" Conference 2022**************
In the past, they have not reseeded. So, CHC/Severn v St Mary’s. AS/McD v BL.
