Next season may be among the most crucial in the program’s history.
Does Johns Hopkins begin their restoration to the elite ranks?
Or does the program continue a decade-long decline?

DocB being the one to start this thread is a bad omen. Not a great start to the offseason

You need to purge yourself of all the negativity. I recommend plenty of fruits and vegetables and lots of sparkling water.

What's really impressive is the Johns Hopkins 2022 thread has 279 pages. Do you think you can break that in the 2023 thread?

Incoming freshmen
Matt Collison - 6'4'' Canadian lefty sniper, can play either midfield or attack
Koleton Marquis - crafty, skilled, and versataile Kahnawake attackman from Canada, can play all over the formation
Brooks English - Canadian middie, good first step, brothers play at Princeton and UNC
Charlie Iler - middie from California, not big but quick and creative as a dodger
Tripp Didden - big right-handed defenseman out of Deerfield
Carson Brown - big left-handed D/LSM out of Deerfield
Mikey Trepeta - D/LSM out of Mount Sinai, believe he's been hurt this season
Jameson Smith - tall and athletic midfielder, productive on LI
Andrew Bigelow - raw defender from Buffalo but built like a brick sh*thouse
Alec Billings - fast, athletic middie out of British Columbia, might project as a two-way guy
Nicholas Lane - FOGO, big boy in the Alec Stathakis mold
Eric McDonald - Canadian at Hill Academy, probably an SSDM and/or wing player
Breakdown:
7 Americans, 5 Canadians
1 A, 2 A/M, 4 M, 4 D/LSM, 1 FO

Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
Last year’s class (2021) didn’t score a single goal all year. FOGO Callahan was only Freshman to make any type of impact. Unless Hopkins gets some great transfer guys they will be worse next year IMHO. Grad losses and Seniors who may not want to come back (why would Epstein want to come back to this) will be problematic.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 10:54 am Incoming freshmen

Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
There were only 5 offensive players in that class and three of them had injuries. So the pool of guys who could score was basically only two people. And as we've discussed, those were all late commits/flips after all of the top players were already signed elsewhere. This upcoming class will have a bigger impact, particularly on the offensive end. I guarantee it.Laxmaninamillion wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 11:17 amLast year’s class (2021) didn’t score a single goal all year. FOGO Callahan was only Freshman to make any type of impact. If this freshman class was like Men's Wearhouse, then the next one will be Hugo Boss

Re: Johns Hopkins 2023
In our fancy new 2023 thread could we please stop with the rhetoric that Joey Epstein is an elite offensive player? At least initially If he comes back or goes elsewhere and gets back to his freshman year ways because he finally got healthy or found confidence in his knee again sure have at it. But until that comes to pass Garrett Degnon is the only true potential problem loss on the offensive side of the ball. If I'm coach I'd already have a meeting scheduled with that young man to hear what's going on inside his head.Laxmaninamillion wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 11:17 am Last year’s class (2021) didn’t score a single goal all year. This isn't to say I wouldn't be happy to have Epstein back next year, but I certainly think he is playing much more at "replacement level" these days than many actually acknowledge.

Does Hopkins still field a lacrosse team? Did they drop down to d3?
