With the exception of Louisville . I’d bet ACC last 5 beat up of the Big10 last 5.
except for that pesky 15-7 drubbing of Pitt by Penn State....................

Does it matter that it was a first year program? You said the last 5 of the ACC would beat up the Big10 last 5. I was jus pointing out head to head that did not happen.

Are we just ignoring the fact that Sterling has been better than Moreno this year? She has a 63% save percentage in Big Ten play and leads the nation in Save % and GAA
Big10 is not the ACC so there’s a difference in competition . Not saying that to be arrogant ….but Maryland basically has one “tough” team to play and played them once . Moreno has already had to play the ACC gauntlet and played a few of those teams twice.
Well said, Laxfan. That’s why numbers in and of themselves mean Jimmy Jack squat. Maryland hasn’t played even a fraction of the tough teams Carolina has. We’ll see how Sterling and the rest of the turtles do from the Big 10 finals and on into the teeth of the later rounds in the Big Rodeo. Until then, they’re numbers with an asterisk.
Not even a fraction? Not a huge difference in SOS. Outside of BC, and maybe Syracuse with all their injuries, none of the ACC teams are markedly better than most of the Big Ten. There is no Louisville, Pitt or Va Tech in the Big Ten. The worst team in the Big Ten has an RPI of 24. Va Tech is at 34, Louisville is 42 and Pitt is 49. The worst team in the Big Ten beat JMU this year and beat Pitt 15-7.
I don’t care about the numbers. They’re all skewed in one way or another anyway. If we’re all being honest, we know that Maryland has had a weaker schedule this year – and that by design. As I said, we’ll see how they do from the Big 10 championship into the later rounds of the big dance.
Sure, UNC has had a tougher schedule than MD this year. I don't think that is in question. But to say MD hasn't played even a fraction of the tough teams Carolina has is an exaggeration.
Yes ^ you said it for me “UNC has had a tougher schedule than MD” all I am saying is that yes Morenos numbers are less than MD goalie but you have to take into consideration the teams and players they are up against . After NU big drop off .

Ok. So let's only look at the games against common opponents.
JMU:
Sterling - 8 Saves 9 GA 47%
Moreno - 4 Saves 8 GA 33%
Florida:
Sterling - 7 Saves 8 GA 47%
Moreno - 8 Saves 11 GA 42%
Northwestern:
Sterling - 16 Saves 9 GA 64%
Moreno - 11 Saves 9 GA 55%
UVA:
Sterling - 3 Saves 9 GA 25%
Moreno - 9 Saves 7 GA 56%

Totals:
Sterling - 34 Saves 35 GA 49.3%
Moreno - 32 Saves 35 GA 47.8%

Incomplete comparison. Maryland hasn’t played Boston College, Syracuse, Duke, Notre Dame...

(One of the above comparison games is Gainesville State, I’m guessing.)

Yes my mistake. The second game is Florida. So by what metrics has Moreno had a better season than Sterling? If you're not a first team All-American should you be a Tewaaraton finalist?

She’s played superior competition. It’s that simple. The AA designation means nothing. Just someone’s opinion.

List to be released today or tomorrow . All reg season games played - so who is your top 5 deserving of the Tewaarton Award?

Just going off of Lax101’s list - think Cordingly has a very strong case as a finalist. I don’t know how much consideration the committee puts in to factors like leading a team after there are injuries to other integral players (which would help Tyrrell’s case). I think North’s DCs give her enough of an edge to earn the nod. Moreno vs Sterling is also an interesting debate because sterling has the higher save percentage but UNC had the tougher SOS. So it again depends on how much the committee looks at factors beyond individual statistics. Ortega yes, Mastroianni probably. Idk if I’m misremembering past races but this year seems the tightest it’s been in a while. Definitely don’t envy the committee

Not sure what Tyrell has done to earn Tewaarton finalist status ? I mean good player puts up a lot of points . But a lot of kids do that …does she make others around her better ? I don’t know - they hve lost 5 games I dont feel that helps her case .

That’s a pretty solid list. And yeah, I agree with you on Tyrrell, just not ruling out the fact that the committee’s selection process is obscure haha.

I guess that's funny to UNC fans, but to me...total nightmare. I lost respect for the Women's side of the T-Award many years ago, but then Meghan Taylor won it and I thought "maybe there's hope". If Cordingley's name is not on the list, it's bogus. And I can make a strong case for Stanford's Ashley Humphrey, who in 18 games has 120 total points(36 goals, 84 assists), that makes her one of the premier attackers in D1.

Unfortunately Humphrey wasn’t on the list of 25 nominees so I don’t think she has a case to make. Almost positive she’ll make the list next year, though
