In case you don’t know, since the narrow focus is always on
a very few teams,

Asher Nolting passed 300 career points.

That puts Nolting in National Lacrosse Hall of Fame territory.

The team is 33-26 in Nolting’s 5 years.
The one team came close to making the NCAAs, beating Duke
and UVA but losing the conference finals.
And then last year, winning the conference finals and making the
NCAAs.

Asher Nolting a couple points now from moving into the top ten all time in DI scoring.
Easily the best player to come out of Colorado.

11 points today.

In the twilight of the SOCON for lacrosse, maybe the most interesting Saturday in quite a while.

Gotta start with the best team in the SOCON as of noon today: great one goal win by Jax! Did not see game but would love to see scheme used on Asher.

Next the probably best team in the SOCON by 3PM: Richmond. Packed stadium. Certainly no love loss. Dalton Young in first half. Lach in the second half. Tired of UVA’s would of could of spin. But on a personal note hats off to Shelly, as he is being called now, for taking a lot of time to sign autographs for young and otherwise fans.

Finally, VMI finally gets a win in the SOCON. Been knocking on the door in many games. Three wins and counting. Watch out MAAC!

Asher Nolting passes Tim Nelson, he’s now in the top ten
all time in scoring.
Ryan Lanchbury surpasses 250 career points.

Not much on this,
but this is the big SoCon game,

Jax aren’t having much of a problem with
Richmond, 10-4.

Richmond came back,
but its Jax with the ball, 2 and a half left,
13-10.

Shout out to HPU. Really nice stadium. Really nice campus. Great atmosphere. Certainly a motivated announcer (ok maybe a little too motivated, the timer countdown over the loudspeakers for the end of the half is probably not allowed). Really nice experience all the way around.

So, who wins the final Southern Conference Tournament? Jacksonville is looking good. But they most likely would have to beat both High Point and Richmond again to do so.

I believe Jax has to beat either HPU or Richmond to win the SOCON…..I am assuming they will beat VMI (twice).

VMI beat Mercer and will most likely beat Hampton (again) placing them as the 4 seed in the SOCON tournament. That means Richmond and HPU play each other and the winner plays the winner of the Jax/VMI game (not this weekend’s game between the two but in the tournament).

So Jax has an easier route to the NCAAs having already beaten both HPU & Richmond. Neither game was a blow out against HPU& Richmond (margins of 1 and 2 goals).

HPU & Richmond play April 23rd and then again in the tournament most likely.

I’m reminded of that High Point team a few years back
some great top 10 wins, Troutner in goal,
but they lost the SoCon finals and had two
bad losses, causing them to lose out on an At Large bid.

Jax are close for At Large, but there are too many
competing for too few At Large.

Jax are in the driver’s seat,
likely to finish the regular season unbeaten in conference,
with a 13 and 2 record.
Now if they can just win the AQ, no need to sweat over
an At Large.
Two real good recruits, under-appreciated recruits, out of
SE PA,
Jacob Greiner out of West Chester East
and Jackson Intrieri out of Wissahickon,
I’ll assume Galloway will continue to recruit out of
SE PA — young man, get out of the cold.

I asked some Jax people (not players) who they would rather play in the SOCON Championship and they said Richmond emphatically.

I don't know if that is a match up issue they would like to avoid with HPU or if they think HPU is just better. Both the Spiders and HPU have a well established team leader that can put the team on their back. Both have rising stars, similar schemes, similar FO stats.

They may have a point but be careful what you ask for....I think Richmond still smarts from last year when they finished the year poorly.

VMI in the playoffs! Yes I know they get the honor of playing Jax again but progress is progress.

Did anyone watch HPU/ Richmond? Did HPU sit starters because they are playing Richmond in first round of tournament regardless of the outcome of this game?

Interesting day in the SoCon. VMI kept it close with Richmond and Mercer upset Highpoint. Nice to see competitive games to end the regular season.

Good to see Mercer pull out the win vs HP.

Sad to see SoCon drop lacrosse.
Had hoped to see lacrosse grow within the full members, but when Furman discontinued their program and realignments giving lax only members other options…
