Not much talk here.

Its looking more and more like the CAA winner will be in
one of the NCAA play in games.

Especially, after St. Joe’s game against UPenn, assuming St. Joe’s
wins the NEC, the NEC would then be in the round of 16.

My predictions :

Drexel / UMASS -cancelled, Both teams decide to play bocce ball instead of Lacrosse and are suspended from league for remainder of the year
Fairfield over Delaware - game ends in a tie, Delaware refuses to play over time and is suspended for the remainder of the year.
Towson drops lacrosse suddenly when administration realizes that the tigers coaches and parents are more obnoxious than LIU parents and coach.

#1 seed Fairfield
#2 seed Hofstra
#3 seed None
#4 seed None

with no semi finals this year Fairfield who hates wiz on a steak sandwich decides it is not worth the drive to Philly and forfeits

Hofstra University is the 2022 Men's Lacrosse CAA champions

You don’t have to go into the city any more to get a
Jim’s Steaks. You can go to Springfield now.
But you still have to go into the city to get a
Marrone’s water ice.

Who will qualify for the CAA playoffs? Towson is already in, so the Tigers will still play even if they lose tomorrow. If Hofstra loses, the Dutch are out. As for the other teams, there are multiple possibilities.

Here are a couple of scenarios, along with the CAA MLAX tiebreaker procedures. Anyone care to figure this out? :)

Current Standings:

Towson 3-1
Delaware 2-2
UMass 2-2
Fairfield 2-2
Drexel 2-2
Hofstra 1-3

Final Games:

Drexel @ UMass (Fri)
Hofstra @ Towson (Sat)
Delaware @ Fairfield (Sat)

----------

Scenario #1:

Drexel UMass ???
Hofstra wins, Towson loses
Fairfield wins, Delaware loses

Towson 3-2
Fairfield 3-2
Drexel or UMass 3-2

UMass or Drexel 2-3
Hofstra 2-3
Delaware 2-3

----------

Scenario #2:

Drexel UMass ???
Hofstra wins, Towson loses
Delaware wins, Fairfield loses

Towson 3-2
Delaware 3-2
Drexel or UMass 3-2

UMass or Drexel 2-3
Fairfield 2-3
Hofstra 2-3

----------

CAA Men's Lacrosse Tiebreaker Procedures (posted 4/26/22)

https://caasports.com/sports/2022/4/26/ ... 21136.aspx

1. Head-to-head competition.

2. Three or More Tied Teams:

a. Compare the combined record of each of the tied teams against the other teams involved in the tie until an advantage is gained. (Example: team A’s combined record against both team B and team C as compared to B’s combined record against both A and C, etc.).

b. If the multiple tie still exists, compare each tied team’s record against the team occupying the highest position in the standings and continue down through the standings until the tie is reduced to a two-team tie (at which time, revert to the two-team process), or until one team gains the advantage, thereby winning the higher position.

c. If a tie still exists, compare the goal differential of the tied teams in all conference games. The team with the best goal differential is removed from the tie and becomes the higher seed. Head-to-head competition between the two remaining teams will determine the next higher seed.

d. Competition against common non-conference opponents.

e. If a tie still exists, a coin flip conducted by the Commissioner will be used.

Looks like someone has figured out Hofstra's chances. According to Hofstra's Towson preview :

"Despite a 1-3 conference record heading into the final weekend, the Pride still has a chance to qualify for the four-team CAA Championship. A win by the Pride, plus losses by Drexel to Massachusetts on Friday and Delaware to Fairfield on Saturday, would punch Hofstra's ticket to the postseason based on the head-to-head tiebreaker the Pride holds over Delaware from the team's 12-11 win on April 9, as Hofstra and Delaware will have won over Towson while Drexel suffered defeat to the Tigers."

The link above from Hofstra site
says there’s still a chance,

again if Gates has another big game which he is capable of
and the Kane, Jones, Turner, McIntosh offense is clicking,
Hof can definitely do the upset or two.

Hofstra has scored 9 goals or less 8 out of 14 games. Lately they have held teams down, but have not scored much themselves.

No doubt, yes.

Just trying to lay out a best case given how crazy the
CAA playoffs can get.

It's unlikely, but that would be fitting for this year: three teams at 3-2 and three at 2-3.

That’s my take,
I don’t know who’s going to win it, and with the likelihood that
they’d have to play a play in game
then face an Ivy team,

the only traction I have
its about time the Hens made the NCAAs
its been ten years, get in already.

Not a good year at all for DU.
Asleep at the wheel most games.

You can’t just run out a smurf midfield all game long, you need some depth and some size there, not much contributions from some talented freshmen and sophomores.

Oh well, onto next year.

Drexel is not eliminated from the playoffs yet. It has been a somewhat disappointing year for the Dragons. But if Delaware beats Fairfield and Towson beats Hofstra they would be the fourth seed. Drexel should be rooting on the Blue Hens. Because if the Hens lose to Fairfield and Towson beats Hofstra, they would be eliminated. If Hofstra and Fairfield win however, both Delaware and Drexel would be eliminated. Strange year.

If Drexel does not make the playoffs, they still have a ton of talent returning next year if the fifth year guys decide to return along with a great incoming class and the return of Luke Tomak.
