GreyingHound wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 3:30 pmIt was not pretty (understatement), but the Hounds got their first come-from-behind win of the season. Trailing 10-8 with 3:05 left in the game, James scored the last 3, including the OT winner. (I guess we now have the answer to the question posed earlier in the week. Whom do you go to when the game is on the line?) My personal take: we were careless with the ball in the first half. After losing most of the faceoffs and playing long stretches of defense, we were taking ill-advised shots in the first 10 secs of the shot clock. I'm not calling anyone out here, as it was across the board, including our SSDMs. Couple that with Colgate's goalie playing well, and we put ourselves in a hole.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 2:37 pmGreyingHound wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 1:04 pm Has anyone else been screaming at their TV for the last hour? Come on Hounds, value the ball! The D plays three straight minutes of defense and we run down and take a poor shot immediately.
Thank goodness Sam is dialed in.
Would love to get the recap. 11-10 OT.
Bailey got owned at FO.
Sam appeared to have a good game.
I’ll take it.
The largest lead was 2,and both teams led by that margin at various times.
Biggest head-scratcher for me: Loyola defense played a zone for the majority of the game. First time we've played that much zone all year. Not sure what to make of it.
Huge game for Poitras (4G on 7 shots) and James (4G on 6 shots). Olmstead had 1G and 4 helpers.
While we didn't play great, we showed some grit today.
Thanks.
Always good to get a come from behind win. Tends to help a teams spirit and unity.
Congrats to Colgate who obviously are far better than their W-L.
James really came through. Poitras too.
I notice our team does really well when we move well without the ball. We are not an overpowering team, so smart feeds and good shot placement are critical. That last goal, James cut at the exact correct time, and Olmstead with his head up seeing the play before it even happened.
Really happy for this team! These kids needed a win like this.
Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2022
Will take a win. But it was incredibly sloppy. Good thing is dwan made the coaching adjustment and went to a zone. Great move. Slowed them down
On the other hand MVA did nothing. No adjustments. We see the same game plan. Along with poorly placed shots. Shots that hit the goalie in the stick, which I consider to be turnovers, poor passing. And again turnovers. No one can be happy with the offensive game plan.
Along with Savio getting owned at the face off x. The defense for the most part kept them in the game

My take is a gritty win. But laxbro has some points. The only point I would add is that Savio had no help on the wings. He needs some help. Especially next week with Lehigh face off specialistlaxbro11 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 5:43 pm Will take a win. But it was incredibly sloppy. While I may not agree with all of you on your points throughout the season, I will say that this win wasn’t the prettiest, nor the best looking. Sam was very very sharp today and the defense kept this team in the game
The most important thing is that they got the job done and they have a major game with Lehigh next Friday. A win against them Friday with BU beating army, then loyola gets a top 2 seed in the patriot league tournament.
There were a couple of offensive sequences that actually looked decent that did not result in goals, but the timely off ball cuts by James and poitras today were great.
I also have no idea why Davis lindsey did not play at all

I agree with the offensive sequences you mention. That is what I have been saying all along. When we move, we cut and we move the ball efficiently, we get good looks. But that does not seem to be the case. The dodge, pass, dodge pass etc does not create we need all six moving, off ball cuts, off ball pics, We could be lethal.houndace1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 23, 2022 7:23 pm While I may not agree with all of you on your points throughout the season, I will say that this win wasn’t the prettiest, nor the best looking. What we are not seeing is any production from the second/third middie lines. The exception was Lindsay at Gtown, but that has been the exception not the rule. Against Colgate, second/third line only one shot and no points.laxbro11 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 11:16 amI agree with the offensive sequences you mention. That is what I have been saying all along. Lehigh.
Need to be 50/50 or close to it at faceoff. Definitely will need wing help, Savio cannot win them by him self. I also think we need a good dose of Pachecko
Lehigh will focus on our SSDMs. That has been our Achilles heal. Need to play our A$$ off.
Need to win the GB battle. Lay it on the line
Need production from second line midfield
Lehigh is ripe for the taking

Not a lot of discussion on Lehigh, I would like to thank our Grad student players for all that they have done
Sam Shafer, another outstanding year in the cage
Matt Benus, finally finding his stride
Kevin Lindley and Aiden Olmstead, what more can be said about this dynamic duo
Dan Wigley, helped to solidify that second line with experience
Bailey Savio, outstanding career
Adam Wagner, Not a lot of PT, but a great teammate
Kyle Lablanc, the silent leader on the defense, always in the right spot
Matt Hughes, I believe he has one more year
Ryan Mcnulty, outstanding LSM, will be with team next year as the new Chris Myers from what I hear
Thank you and good luck with your last game at Ridley

And I would like to say thank you to our seniors, not sure how many will be coming back for a 5th year, but they will be honored this Friday night at Ridley
Mitchell Cain, had a great fall ball, one of the hardest workers on the field, one of the senior leaders
Liam Bateman, solid second line middie,
Cam Wyers, a solid four year career with the hounds
Freeman Whitiker, only start was against Navy last year, hard worker, just behind a great goalie
Riley Seay, Solid Middie, not sure what happened and why he lost playing time, great leader by example, hardest worker on the team
Cam James, Another hard worker, injury prone, solid player, gave the close defenders the needed rest when needed
Jack Decker, solid attack, tough to break in with the attack we had
Payton Rezanka, the bull dog of SSDMs, great career
Scott Middleton, Solid LSM, it will be his show next year
Good luck next year, I know many of them will be doing a 5th year, If so looking forward to seeing play next year, if not good luck on your careers,

Nicely said, and I like your optimism about Friday being the last game at Ridley, but I wouldn't complain about having to drive up to Baltimore next Tuesday for an encore either. I will hope BU takes care of Army, and the Hounds get it done against Lehigh so we get that first-round bye though.Loyolalaxgrad wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 11:29 am Not a lot of discussion on Lehigh, I would like to thank our Grad student players for all that they have done

This class of grad students and seniors has a lot to be proud of. Three NCAA quarterfinal appearances (so far) and tournament wins over UVA, Syracuse, and Denver. (Incidentally, the Hounds are the last team to beat two-time champ Virginia in an NCAA tournament game.) Not to mention contending with the pandemic challenges. It is a resilient bunch.
Let's go, Hounds! Finish strong!

the coach at Bishop Shanahan,
actually McNulty is a clone of Jon Heisman the AA defenseman,
Heisman just passed 500 career wins and will be a great coaching
mentor for McNulty.

Has an APB gone out yet for Davis Lindsey? My guess is he must have been injured against GU..

He’s ok and will probably be rotated back in like he was used at GT...spelling Olmstead as that is likely where Lindsey will be playing next year at X...allowing for multiple looks using Olmstead out of the box...nice to have him back for our run to the PL Tourney championship ....Like what I did there!GreyingHound wrote: ↑Wed Apr 27, 2022 1:12 pmInside Lacrosse reported that he had a non-COVID illness last week and is expected to play against Lehigh. Senior night Friday! Thx you to all the great student athletes in this group. They have played a lot of lacrosse for the hounds and have won a bunch of games.
Beat Lehigh and finish T-2 in the PL with a 6-2 record. Not bad for a rough year. Let’s win Friday
Can’t change what happened with close losses to Rutgers, Hopkins, Army, and Towson...but let’s look forward
Hope we can find some consistency on the back end and some flow on offense to have a great 10 day run. Gotta hope!
My prediction is a very ugly low scoring slugfest on Friday night. Lehigh will win face offs and hold the ball...we will have to value the ball and take advantage of the possessions we get...Go Hounds!

Great game plan.

Good recap, but I think Bailey will do better at FO than expected.
Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2022
If this team cannot get fired up for this game and win there is a major problem. Lehigh walked away with a patriot league championship by forfeit due to the bizarre Covid rules Loyola had
Savio/Pachecko have to be above 50 percent. The wing play must be more active. I like poitras a shifty gb go getter.
We will see what MVA can dial up. Big time players and coaches live for these games.

Re: Loyola Greyhounds 2022
I’m pretty sure the team and staff will put everything forward to try and win tonight. Like every week for every player on this team...Just like Lehigh will do the same
Season has 9 days left...maybe a few days less and hey, maybe a few days more if we catch a wave and win the PL Tourney...
Win or lose, we have a lot of really good talents on this team...guys that want to win, grind it out, play hurt, battle...sometimes the other guys win...season has not gone as we hoped as fans...but we hope for a run next week, and if not, I like the core of guys we have coming back...plug in some new pieces and maybe it all clicks...but for now it’s the next 9 days. Anything is possible.
I’m looking forward to a good night tonight honoring the seniors. Should be a tough game, not a pretty one...Lehigh will slog and limit our possessions. Our defense and goaltending will need to be very good and our offense will need to value the ball and limit turnovers.
Go Hounds!

They just announced on the PA that Lindsey is starting on attack as opposed to Kamish.
