Ok, I said this before and I will say this again. Yes, the MD vs VA was the so called game of the year BUT the last game of the IVY season before the ILT will be CORNELL vs PRINCETON and I now maintain that this will be the game of the year for the regular season D1 season.
The entire D1 lacrosse community have now circled that game as must see. I know theirs lots of Lax before that game, but I still say, that is the regular season game of the year for 2022.

They just obliterated everyone's hot new team with major injuries which everyone has conceded.
They said one of our weaknesses was FO. PETRAKIS was dominant today. Our defense and goalie have been solid all year. Piatelli, long, and Kirst are arguably the best attack in the country. Adler is a shut down defender and Bardwell and Bartalloto are arguably the best SSDM combo in the country, and Chayse is consistently solid.
Sorry, after today's performance, I have them as one of the major players to contend for the NC.

Penn doesn't need Cornell to stumble, in fact Penn needs Cornell (and Yale) to beat Brown. If that happens and Penn beats Harvard and Dartmouth, and Harvard loses to at least one of Yale and Princeton, then Penn gets in to the ILT (I'm pretty sure ...).Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 3:37 pmNot yet. If Cornell stumbles, Penn can still get in at 3-3. 2-4 may also be possible.

I think the Ivy has come out strong. And, I’m happy they are back. But, lets come up for air.

The air here in Ivy country is exquisite. We have the best conference in D1 and the games are incredible. Though I am a big Cornell fan, the Brown win at Penn is extraordinary, and just when people were counting out the Bears, they come out with a great win.
Sorry, Ivy air is intoxicating right now.

Penn was up 5-0 after the 1st and lost! The Ivy League is crazy this season--any given day. Is there an ILT this year?

Re: Ivy League 2022
Look, at this point, if they lose to the Cuse in the Dome (which wouldn't surprise me in the least), I would not hold that as a problem, as the IVY league , and hosting the ILT are now our primary focus. Cornell's resume with wins over Yale, Ohio State, Harvard, Lehigh and the team that just beat the Cuse etc. Is pretty complete and our RPI is probably solid also. If someone said you could be 1-1 vs Harvard and Cuse, obviously the Harvard win is most important.Mr3Putt wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 7:45 pmI will give u a call @ 10p on Mondayjoewillie78 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 7:10 pmThe air here in Ivy country is exquisite. Re: Ivy League 2022
Possible Ivy Honorees this week:
POW:
1) Michael Long, Cornell: 7 points vs Harvard (3,4)
2) Chris Brown, Princeton: 7 points vs BU (0,7), 6 points vs Marist (2,4)
3) Matt Brandau, Yale: 6 points vs Dartmouth (3,3), 10 points vs BU (3,7)
4) John Piatelli, Cornell: 4 points vs Harvard (4,0)
5) Devon McLane, Brown: 4 points vs Penn (4,0)
6) Reed Moshyedi, Brown: 4 points vs Penn (2,2)
7) Erik Peters, Princeton: 14 saves (67%) vs BU, 6 saves (67%) vs Marist
8) Connor Theriault, Brown: 13 saves (57%) vs Penn
9) Jared Paquette, Yale: 10 saves (67%) vs Dartmouth, 9 saves (56%) vs BU
ROW:
1) CJ Kirst, Cornell: 6 points vs Harvard (3,3)
2) Coulter Mackesy, Princeton: 4 points vs BU (3,1), 3 points vs Marist (0,3)
3) Leo Johnson, Yale: 4 points vs Dartmouth (1,3), 7 points vs BU (4,3)
Other possible honorees (Honor Roll):
1) Patrick Burkinshaw, Penn: 17 saves vs Brown (59%)
2) Kyle Mullin, Harvard: 14 saves vs Cornell (45%)
3) Chase Ierland, Cornell: 10 saves vs Harvard (59%)
4) Angelo Pertakis, Cornell: 63% face-offs vs Harvard
5) Ian Jacobs, Cornell: 4GB, 2CT vs Harvard
This might be a bit Cornell heavy, but the stats vs Harvard were quite impressive. I may have missed some long pole defenders. Ivy goalies this year seem particularly strong.

After that performance, it should be Cornell heavy. They showed that when they are clicking on all cylinders, that they are clearly one of the best teams in the country. Besides Cornell, Brown's toughness and grittyness was on full display at Penn, bringing the Bears back in the mix for an ILT spot.faircornell wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 10:37 pm Possible Ivy Honorees this week:

Re: Ivy League 2022
Well, I had a feeling we hadn't heard the last from Brown, but...wow. What a comeback to throw the Ivies into a bit of a mess.
Cornell, meanwhile, turn in their best performance of the year (at least from what I could tell watching on my phone during my son's AAU tournament). I thought they would win, though it was by no means a certainty after last week's struggles, but I did not see that level of dominance coming. The third Ivy win is enormous this year, and Cornell and Yale, as the first two teams to get there, are closing in on punching their ILT tickets.
Didn't see any of the Yale/Dartmouth game, but did watch over half of Yale's dismantling of BU earlier this week. That team is looking scary.
What a scrum for the Ivy dance this year though, eh?
EDIT: Barring some bizarro circumstances, I don't see a non-ILT team making the NCAAs this year (though the path got a little clearer with the JHU loss to Ohio State). So these next few weeks are going to be crazy.

Re: Ivy League 2022
Love your enthusiasm Joe, but I agree with GOBIGRED. I thought Harvard was hugely over rated and over hyped (largely by their own social media) from the start. The Ivy schedule is the same every year so Harvard, as opposed to Y, C, and Pn get the currently weaker teams first, and out of conference aside from tOSU was soft. They will lose the next three.joewillie78 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 6:18 pmWhat do you still need.?Gobigred wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 6:09 pmNo, haven't seen convincing evidence of that.joewillie78 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 5:49 pmOr can we concede that Cornell is a great, not good, but great team and can challenge for a NC?

Cornell needs the faceoff unit to be consistent against better teams. Even after yesterday C is #57, H is 60 in the NCAA. We have too many uncaused turnovers, and better teams give us a lot of trouble getting the ball inside. Our save percentage is third worst in the league. And we're not deep in the midfield.
Princeton will tell the story.
IF we get past Brown.
Re: Ivy League 2022
Let's not forget that Harvard did beat Brown, too.
I tend to agree that I think their ranking was a bit, er, padded, but they're a good and dangerous team. They may not win again this year, but then again, they may have an upset of, say, Penn tucked away somewhere.
