Tue Mar 29
Two Game of the Week battles in prime time, the only regret being the spacing. Too bad the powers that be who want to grow the game and showcase the sport weren't paying attention here. So, it'll be a two screen night for about an hour while catching the end of the Hounds/Orange game (by the way--safe travel and Godspeed, Doc) and the beginning of the Tigers/Seawolves game. In any event, here's the whole broadcast schedule:
3 p.m. - Duke at Liberty - ESPN+
4 p.m. - UMBC at Johns Hopkins - HopkinsSports
6 p.m. - Loyola at Syracuse - ACCNX (weather expected: ideal conditions in the Dome )
6 p.m. - Albany at Cornell - ESPN+
7 p.m. - Stony Brook at Princeton - ESPN+ (weather expected: clear in the mid to low 30's with a slight breeze 5-10 mph)

(Maybe later, DMac and Doc will post a little selfie for posterity...)

You should invest in an Apple TV, you can then split screen up to 4 ESPN games at any time using the ESPN app it comes in very useful during seasonOuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 6:31 am Two Game of the Week battles in prime time, the only regret being the spacing. Big slate of games today but no matchups nearly as compelling as the two last night.

Two nationally televised games in prime time (7pm) tonight on this last day of March.
We’ve got unranked but RPI #24 Ohio State at unranked but RPI #20 Louisville on the ACC Network and #14 Michigan at #13 Rutgers on the BTN Network. This is one of those times when having YouTube TV or a cable provider that carries both channels comes in very handy. Another example of how some foresight could have made this a nice doubleheader, but hey--these things take time...

Some interesting games on tap today. ASUN's Jacksonville at Coastal Carolina could be a good one at 1pm on ESPN+. A10's Davidson at St. Joe's at 2pm same channel. Arizona St at Stony Brook could be interesting for a while at 6pm same channel. Northwestern at Penn St at 7pm (BTN+) could be a good battle depending on which Lions team shows up. Then at 9pm Colorado at Stanford would be a great game to watch but alas, it's beaming on the Pac 12 network which I can't get unless I ante up for a whole month of Sling or Fubo or one of the like services. Should be a good game and a chance for the Cardinal to get some payback.

For my money, #15 Virginia at #7 Duke is the game of the day.
Lot of other top ranked teams in action today. Too bad they have no worthy opponents, if you will. Carolina should spank Notre Dame. Same with Maryland Hop; Syracuse Pitt and BC VT among others. However, if there are upsets, all of a sudden the games become fascinating.
Brown at Yale should be a real scrap, as should Georgetown at Villanova.

Agreed; that UVA-Duke game should be good; UVA needs a quality win.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:08 am For my money, #15 Virginia at #7 Duke is the game of the day.

I am hopeful that the Terp-Blue Jay game is competitive too.

Hah! I am the original; had a snafu with my password, the dark web, etc., so I had to re-register. You'll get the same long sentences and stupid insights -- don't worry!!8meterPA wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:44 amSeacoaster(1) - are you new or the original?Seacoaster(1) wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:33 amAgreed; that UVA-Duke game should be good; UVA needs a quality win.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:08 am For my money, #15 Virginia at #7 Duke is the game of the day.

I think the Hop game could be close....Duke should beat UVA, but I wouldn't mind the Hoos dropping the Blue Devils (makes my tiers and future seeding easier).Seacoaster(1) wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:33 amAgreed; that UVA-Duke game should be good; UVA needs a quality win.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:08 am For my money, #15 Virginia at #7 Duke is the game of the day.

Virginia risks not finishing with the required .500 record as well. A loss today and vs UNC, and wins vs VCU and VT would leave them at 8-8. 1st round loss in ACCs would then leave them ineligible. And Duke could use a quality win as well. They currently have none (defined as beating a team with an RPI of 1-20) despite their gaudy record. And by that definition winning today wouldn't count as one either. Weak SOS should bite them come seeding time.Seacoaster(1) wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:33 amAgreed; that UVA-Duke game should be good; UVA needs a quality win.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 7:08 am For my money, #15 Virginia at #7 Duke is the game of the day.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. How many teams can boast North Carolina, Boston College and Syracuse on their schedule? And in the wacky world of women’s lacrosse RPI—it doesn’t matter if you beat them, or even play well against them – you just have to play them to get RPI points.crazyhorse wrote: ↑Sat Apr 02, 2022 8:22 am Duke could use a quality win as well. I would love for Tucker and the Blue Jays to finally beat the Terps but I just don't see it. These are the kinds of marginal teams Maryland loves to devour.
I knew the tiers system would catch on...

One lonely game on the schedule today--a makeup from the postponed game from yesterday. Florida at Cincy 2pm 1st draw. This is the part when Florida starts ripping through the rest of the "misfit teams" (so said former Gator Cara Trombetta) in the AAC. Five of their next six games are in-conference with the penultimate game vs Jacksonville. Too bad JMU or Stony Brook didn't move into the AAC.

Trombetta? I was always a fan. Her strong, confident and chippy style is missed at this address.

Big Saturday
Seems the most games are played on Saturday and maybe Wednesday these days. Lots of in-conference battles today. Teams are jockeying for position as the conference tourneys begin in less than two weeks!
