Wow, I missed the JMU omission. That alone dismisses this poll or ranking as a joke!@inthe8m wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 2:39 pmThat is some wild and crazy stuff. I would love to see the formula behind that Top 20. Vermont and Davidson - really? Navy - as someone who has watched quite a few of their games, they are just not very good. JMU has beaten three of his Top 20 teams but is not listed? It is almost as if his formula puts more emphasis on quality losses than quality wins.Justalaxdad wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 2:22 pmAgreed and didn’t UVA beat Richmond by 10? I don’t think anyone is going to argue UVA’s SOS either. Some people/polls refuse to look any deeper than a w/l record.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 11:58 amAs long as teams like Vermont and Davidson show up in top 20 lists, this method of ranking teams has no credibility in my estimation.

Thanks Doc – but this isn’t meant to be an exact list of scores. This is just my scratch sheet in helping me come up with the positions. You’ll notice that Colorado doesn’t have a final score for Cal, as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are other errors. But, that’s my top 25 anyway.Dr. Tact wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 8:23 pmFixed it for youOuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Sun Apr 03, 2022 5:56 pm 1 NC beat Notre Dame 15-7

Re: FanLax Forum Poll
I submitted my Fanlax poll with some bracketology mixed in, attempting to get inside the committee’s head to project the eight seeds. I tried to take into account their criteria which includes:
Win-loss record
RPI (arguably the most important metric they look at based on past years)
SOS
Significant wins (wins vs top 20 RPI teams)
Significant losses (loss vs teams outside the top 20)
Evaluation of 10 highest rated teams on schedule
Top 10
Seed RPI Wins Losses SOS Top 20 Wins non-T20 losses Avg RPI
UNC 1 1 12 0 6 5 JMU, Fla, NW, BC, ND 0 12
Syr 2 2 10 2 2 5 SB, Duke, Temp, Loy, ND 0 11
BC 3 3 11 1 7 2 NW, Den 0 15
NW 4 4 10 2 4 4 Syr, SB, OSU, ND 0 11
SB 5 5 8 2 9 3 Fla, JHU, Prince 0 22
Loy 6 13 10 1 18 3 JHU, Fla, Prince 0 25
MD 7 11 10 1 16 3 Fla, Rutg, JHU 0 14
Den 8 7 11 1 23 2 Vand, OSU 0 25
Fla 8 7 4 15 1 Syr 0 17
Duke 15 13 1 32 1 ND 0 23
Prince 6 6 2 8 2 Temp, USC 0 22
JMU 9 8 4 5 3 Uconn, Mary,OSU 1 VT 20
Rutg 10 10 2 17 3 Temp, JMU, JHU 1 ASU 18
USC 14 8 2 43 1 Jack 1 Stan 26
I made a comment on another thread that Duke’s SOS and lack of significant wins could hurt them, and it really stands out here. Interesting sidebar on SOS is that the other mid-tier ACC teams have a strong SOS (UVA at 1, ND at 3). My message to Duke would be if you want to be considered among the best then schedule among the best.
I don’t believe there’s any argument among the top 5. At this point, I have Syracuse at 2, BC at 3 because they have a better RPI, SOS, and more significant wins. Obviously, that could change when they settle it on the field.
Denver is “last seed in” by virtue of #7 RPI, 11-1 record, and 2 significant wins. Close call in my mind over the “first four out” in Florida, Duke, Princeton, and JMU.
Florida: #8 RPI, #15 SOS, average RPI of their top ten on schedule is 17, but 4 losses.
Duke: nuff said about their schedule
Princeton: All the metrics look good, but Temple and USC are in the bottom half of top 20 and Ivy doesn’t present opportunity for another significant win. Does Ivy League winner get a seed??
JMU: #9 RPI, #5 SOS very strong, but that significant loss to VT among 4 total hurts

Re: FanLax Forum Poll
If ND manages to have a record of 500, do they get an at large bid based on the RPI rating and whatever else if looked at. They will likely have no significant wins but a handful of 1 goal losses to very good teams.

Re: FanLax Forum Poll
They should finish the season 8-8, then will likely face Duke in ACC tournament. A loss and they're sub-500. A win gives them the significant win they need plus strong RPI and top 3 SOS should be enough except...they have what would currently be classified as three significant losses to Vanderbilt, Michigan, and Va Tech. Will just have to see how that all stacks up in the pecking order for the 14 at large spots.
