I guess the Laxnumbers list must be fully automated but their algorithm is terrible. Riverside beat Patrick Henry 20-3 last season so ranking Patrick Henry above Riverside is questionable. Any VA list without Riverside and Robinson at the top is not great. Hylton at #11 ahead of Yorktown and Madison? Lots of issues with that list.

NOVA Public top 10:

1. Riverside
2. Robinson
3. Patriot
4. Battlefield
5. Freedom
6. Madison
7. Lake Braddock
8. Yorktown
9. Dominion
10. Oakton???

I think it is interesting to only see one of the usual suspects from FFX in the top 5. You could flip some a few places but still end up with this list. Patriot Battlefield is the new best rivalry in NOVA?

Yes, Battlefield/Patriot is probably the most consistent rivalry recently. Robinson/Madison is always good too. I’ve seen Dominion a couple times - they are not even a top 30 team. Oakton would beat them easily.

I have not seen Dominion play saw Oakton so are they top 10? Or is another team in the top 10?

Yorktown handles Madison easier than expected. 9-5 in 4th when weather delay ended the game.

Oakton is close, as is Langley. Yorktown would move up to 5 or 6 after beating Madison easily. Probably would have West Potomac in the 9 spot and one of Briar Woods, John Champe or Oakton in the ten spot.

I think some 4A schools could beat all of teams past Yorktown. Fauquier, Dominion, EC Glass, Broad Run

My top 10
1. Riverside (freedom will give them a run for their money if freedom can battle at the face-off x)
2. Battlefield (best goalie in the state and he is a 2024)
3. Robinson (great fogo)
4. Patriot (the patriot/battlefield match is going to be awesome to watch through out the year. How many times will they play each other?)
5. Freedom (they can score)
6. Yorktown
7. Lake Braddock
8. Fauquier (IMO they will play for the 4a state championship this year)
9. Langley
10. Broad Run

Westfield def. South County 11-9
Centreville def. McLean 9-4
Maybe West Springfield def. Marshall 18-2 (Laxnumbers has this flipped but seems wrong)
Yes WS beat Marshall 18-2.

Big game this week: Battlefield Patriot. Battlefield might have the best goalie and Patriot the best scoring threat. I think this is the best rivalry in 6A lacrosse as these teams develop in the same youth program.

*Updated Nova Top 10

1. Robinson (7-0) Great FOGOs* and deepest team all around
2. Riverside (5-1) Best/deepest team in 5A
3. Battlefield (6-0) Best goalie, great team ball. Coach Suthers getting it done!
4. Patriot (4-1) Great individual talent who can take over games
5. Freedom (3-2) Tough team, might make some noise in the playoffs
6. Yorktown (4-2) Great defense and some offensive weapons with cannons
7. Lake Braddock (5-1) Arguably the best offensive duo in the state
8. John Champe (3-2) Enough talent to get to a region semi-final or final
9. Briar Woods (4-2) Solid team who could shock some teams come playoff time
10. Madison (4-3) Strong defensive players and attackmen. Missing Coach Fitzgerald

Not sure how you can say no one else other than Battlefield and Patriot when Freedom went to OT with Patriot, and apparently was winning 6-1 at one point in the game, and only lost to Battlefield by 4. And then list long long shots as woodson and west po for 6c when both of those teams aren't even in the same atmosphere as Robinson and Lake Braddock. Freedom has just as much of a chance as Battlefield and Patriot imo

First off, no team is in the same atmosphere as Robinson. By your logic, the list should have just said “State Champ-Robinson, Battlefield and Patriot long shots.” Unfortunately, that would have been no fun to read. Second, Freedom plays lacrosse in 5A, so why on earth would they be on a list of potential 6A regional champs??? Not sure how you can say a 5A team has a good chance to win a 6A regional title. If you’re gonna try to correct people on here, at least do your research.

6A Rankings after spring break

Tier 1(State Champs)
1. Robinson: These guys are loaded, and they are absolutely torching teams. It’s hard to compete with a team like this in public school lacrosse.

Tier 1A(Only teams that can beat Robinson)
2. Battlefield: Beat Patriot in the rivalry game. Have blasted pretty much everyone else. Perhaps the only hope to stop the Rams.
3. Patriot: Tough losses to Battlefield and Riverside, but playing those teams close is actually impressive to me.

Tier 2(Better than tier 3, but not good enough to beat Robinson)
4. Lake Braddock: These guys remind me of the 7 seconds or less Suns. Those two D1 boys are the real deal, and if Braddock is winning faceoffs, they can easily drop 15-20 on you.
5. Yorktown: Don’t forget about these guys. 5 straight Ws since a tough start to the season. Also the only team to give Robinson a game this year.
6. Madison: Clearly a step behind Tier 1, but they’ve also made short work of everyone else they’ve seen.

Tier 3(Can beat Tier 2 teams, not much more)
7. Langley: An elite FOGO can keep you in any game, and they have one. I’m keeping them ahead of Oakton despite losing to them, largely due to Oakton’s losses to Mclean and West Po.
8. West Potomac: Beat Oakton and Westfield, but got handled by Madison.
9. Tie Westfield/Oakton: There’s no separating these teams. Both lost to Robinson by the exact same score. Both lost to West Potomac by 1. Both went to OT with Langley. Both beat SoCo by 2 goals. The Oakton loss to Mclean(who Westfield beat) offsets the Oakton win over Langley.

HM: Woodson, Chantilly, Centreville, Healthy Mclean

Everyone else is Tier 4, which essentially means that I hope your son has a good season:)

Really looking forward to district play. We’re getting towards the best part of the season!
