NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
How does Garden City look in 2019? Other Nassau County teams? Will Section XI power Ward Melville have any competition from the A class teams in Section VIII?

Inside Lacrosse Top 25 HS Lacrosse Teams: #7 Garden City, Nassau County, NY
https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/ ... nogh/53986
"Among the country's most tradition-rich public school programs, the Trojans got past Victor (N.Y.) in last year's New York Class 'B' championship, scoring with 1.6 seconds left to capture GC's first state since 2013. Luckily for them, the core was built on their current senior class, though the Trojans will have to replace an excellent goalie and some impactful middies. The defense is undoubtedly the team's strength with No. 86 senior and first team All-LI pick Colin Hart (Brown) in addition to senior longpole Danny Boccafola (Cornell) and junior Billy Kephart, another commit to the Big Red. Senior Justin Copolla (Villanova) is one of the better face-off guys around, while classmate Trevor Yeboah-Kodie (Brown) is a stud athlete at midfield who is also a tremendous football player. Attackman James Basile (Vermont) scored the game-winner in last year's title game and will look to carry over that momentum into his senior year. With strong coaching and an excellent feeder system, expect Garden City to get the most out of its role players and bench, which will be vital against a tough non-conference schedule."

Don't forget Will Puccio. He had more than a few D I programs after him. From what I hear, he is going to Trinity. in the fall.NYSection1 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 16, 2019 9:08 am Inside Lacrosse Top 25 HS Lacrosse Teams: #7 Garden City, Nassau County, NY

Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
GC the past few years has gotten off to some slow starts in losing their first games of the season. Great resolve shown by them to come back from down 5-2 at half and beat an always tough Smithtown West team 10-9 in OT. Very intrigued to see how they do this year with a fun schedule (some top west coast and midwest squads).
Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
Garden City H.S.,a Nassau (Section 8, "B") team was down by 3 to a Nassau (Section 8, "A") team today. They eventually won. They played a Suffolk (Section 11, "A") team last week and won in OT.They're 2-0 so far.Their OOC schedule is pretty tough. And rumor has it they may play Manhasset High School (SECTION 8, "B") this year.
It ain't about how you start,It's all about how well you finish.

Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
GC does have a tough OOC schedule, I would also describe it as odd this year. Saliesianum, LaSalle (RI), St. Ignatious (CA), Loyola (IL), Loyola (CA) are a lot of out of state teams and some are a bit off the usual LI team OOC beaten path. Is there some coach/player relationship behind the Loyola (CA) game?

Looks like Manhasset is playing Darien tomorrow (4/13) on LI. Does anyone know what time the game is?

Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
Good game yesterday btween Darien & Manhasset. 3-3 at the break, and 6-3 Indians after the 3rd quarter. FO man (No# 3 - Psyllos) as a big factor in the outcome, as Manhasset was eventually able to pull even, and then get the lead. They seemed to want to work the ball around, as opposed to running up and down the field (although they looked like they had some horses to do so when needed).
Both goalies looked very good.
I noticed No 15 and #50 from Manhasset both had 2 goals yesterday, but they didn't immediately jump out to me like #3, # 34, #27, and #19 did. When looking at the program, it looks like they are in grades 9 and 10 respectively. That should bode well for them in the next few years.

I was only able to watch the first half, unfortunately. Did 'Set stick with that zone? 3-3 at the half, both teams having trouble getting anything going 6 v 6. Sounds like the second half was a little better, at least for 'Set.
Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
GC beating down a top 20 team in St Ignatius (CA) 14-3 is a statement. Of course, St. Ig may be a little gassed after a close loss to St. Anthonys and a cross country trip, but i've been impressed by the Trojans. Woodstick is gonna be a doozy this year.
Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
Gassed? Not those guys. They played pretty well today against Chaminade.Didn't look the least bit heavy-legged.St. Ig may be a little gassed
Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
Keeping an eye on Terp recruits, I have noticed that Garrett Gibbons for Massapequa has had like 25 points in his last 4 games. That seems like a rather high number for a midfielder.

It's quite possible. The scores of their last 3 games have been 17-6 (Smithtown East), 22-2 (Hicksville), and 16-7 (Fairfield Prep). The last score was courtesy of Blue Warrior over on the Connecticut thread.

Have to say with Manhasset having the team they have this year it's too bad all the Indians supporters haven't found this site. Little bo peep, Kr, laxingli and many more must have been happy last night, probably throwing a couple back at Publicans 2.0. Looking forward to the rematch at Hofstra and loved the traditional GC unis last night
Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
I think that Manhasset is as good of a public school as they come in the country. Seems like the whole season they have been underrated and put down by the lacrosse media/rankings. The game this past weekend was a great one. Definitely had the intensity and physicality of a rivalry game. This game is just a precursor for the county finals of which GC has won the last 2 meetings after falling in the regular season like this year. Kodie was a beast for GC, had a few snipes with heat to them and laid a few big hits as well.
Re: NY Section VIII 2019 (Nassau County)
The Woodstick, from what I've read, Was a high quality, intense game. It is a hell of a year for GC/MHS/Chaminade and St Anthonys. All basically top 10 in the country. MHS lost to St Anthonys by 1, GC loses to Manhasset by 1. Chaminade Vs. MHS coming up. Good stuff.

Smithtown West's game today could be a good one...
