Frankly, I don’t believe anyone belongs in the military if they are unwilling to receive a Covid-19 vaccination that my elementary school-age daughter has received three times.

Thank them for their service and then expel them from the military with an honorable discharge so that they can pursue a profession that does not require obeying simple orders.

An unvaccinated person is as likely to carry the virus as a vaccinated person.

An unvaccinated *healthy* person is less likely to become sick from the virus than a vaccinated *unhealthy* person.

Navy SEALS are VERY healthy.

To help unravel the mysteries of COVID-19, scientists are sequencing the DNA of young, healthy adults and children who develop severe illness despite having no underlying medical problems. The researchers are looking for genetic defects that could put certain individuals at high risk of becoming severely ill from the novel coronavirus.

You know many people that have sequenced their DNA and know their risk of severe illness?
My post was about DocB, anybody can get seriously ill from any virus... Among those who post in this forum, who isn't triple-vaxxed? (hint, almost ZERO who actually post) A study came out today that said there's a 60% reduction in Long Covid of those who have received two doses of a vaccine. I would imagine it's closer to 80% with a booster. What more can one do besides take basic precautions and get vaccinated? There's no use letting it control your life. I understand your point here, but I feel you are obsessed with attempting to consistently defend the severity of the virus day after day. It's become a bit myopic. I will stop here. Jersey City must be a zoo right now!

COVID-19 mitigation is just a small part of my life. My life style has not changed much. Definitely not enough for me to be upset about it.

This attacking of posters and getting riled up tends to end badly. I don't think it makes you happier either.

And you have lots to offer on the lax front, especially the women's side, without getting riled up.

Seriously, offered in the friendliest of ways.

I think it was a fan who just yesterday told Joe Mauer something like ‘us leftists aren’t really against speech cause we love opposing viewpoints and engaging discussions’.

The mask slips on these boards so frequently. Very few of the board leftists want any opposing viewpoints, MD takes the time to tell Joe to not post here anymore, after a very friendly Joe Mauer post! Imagine if Joe wasn’t friendly.

Just amazing. (I’d add so much more color, because it so deserves it, but that would simply result in my suspension)

Of course I'm not controlling you, and have zero power to do so. I'm just reminding you of our quite pleasant conversations before you were sent off to Siberia and then especially afterwards...I am sincerely rooting for you to be able to post and be happy, both, and you made the self-assessment that avoiding the politics threads, and focusing on lax, would be helpful. I strongly endorse that self assessment.

Believe me, I know how "life works".
I also know how the rules of the forum work.

And the only think I don't "like" when you post are when you go off on others and their presumed motivations instead of actually responding to the contents of their views with your own counter arguments and insights. If you'd find it in yourself to do the latter instead of almost entirely the former, the dog house wouldn't be a problem.

Seriously, I'm interested in what's happening from your perspective with the women's side in particular. Stick around!

Between MD and (I believe it was) Seacoaster, you’ve now seen two instances where the first impulse is to shut you down, rather than engage. Your recent posts have been nothing but respectful.

Everyone is glad to have you back with the glaring exception of those unable to defend their ideas.

Well, let’s skip for a second the fact that the board’s supposed ‘centrists’ never oppose any of the furthest, far left lunatic, social causes….

…wouldn’t ‘centrists’ entertain and engage with opposing viewpoints? These ‘centrists’ have asked that Joe Mauer stop posting on the politics thread. I mean, bear in mind that Joe Mauer posts relatively sensible stuff…to be blunt, I have no idea if Joe is a Republican or a Democrat or neither.

Yet, the so-called ‘centrists’ here that a fan claims exist want this guy’s voice silenced. That is some kind of new centrist!

That just doesn’t seem ‘centrist’ to me. Maybe ‘centrist’ is the new Marxist?

Yep. We mock your stupid trolling and strawmen. Where you get upset over socialism----yet attended a socialist University. What else would you expect when someone pretends to be this stupid?

You don't believe in your own fake values. If you did, you would have done what I did-----work hard in HS, and get into a Private School. Or, of course, not attend college at all....a perfectly good choice that keeps your values intact.

But you didn't so that, did you? Instead, like so many fake "I hate Socialism", you CHOSE to get educated by Socialists in our Government.

Now why would I take someone like that seriously?

Joe didn’t tell folks to stop posting about a subject. He told them to stop posting about shutting him up, as well as trying to be slightly less judgmental. That seems sensible to me.

Meanwhile, would you let us know if the new ‘centrist’ mindset is the old leftist mindset of extreme speech control and suppression? Elon Musk is considering launching a new social media website without Twitter’s anti-conservative voice algorithm. If ‘centrists’ are as lustful of speech control as the left, we need to let Elon know to make the new algorithms that much stronger in favor of speech protection….

So many folks wishing that speech was controlled by some amorphous lefty central body…I swear I sometimes think I’m living in the Soviet Union!!!!.

Getting back on Covid thread track…

Two months after new Governor Glenn Youngkin ended school mask mandates, cases among kids aged 0-19 in Virginia are down 93%

There is quite literally no evidence or data based argument to support forcibly masking kids in schools

(I’d add the graph but it’s too large to copy/paste to Fanlax…click the link to be amazed)

Shouldn’t your response be more like, ‘hey cool! Looks like we don’t need masks! People can at least get rid of those and start living normally again’?

Why always seeking to put masks on, in spite of overwhelming evidence now which shows they do not work for the prevention of Covid?! Because you don’t want to admit Youngkin and Desantis were correct?
