I see it as commentary on the lack of interest in a historic men's lacrosse match up that used to be wildly attended.
Am I miss something ?
Nope. I think you’re spot on
If that was true, they'd compare Navy-JHU today to Navy-JHU 10 or 20 or whatever years ago. They're comparing a men's game to a women's game.
His wife is a Women's college coach, he's a high school girls coach, he has a daughter who plays. Maybe he's also pumped about the interest in a regular season women's game. Like a lookey here the women's game is making a statement.

I just don't see the obnoxiousness in it. Then again that's why Twitter is a dumpster fire, who knows the intent behind anyone's tweet/retweet half the time 🤷

The lack of interest in Hopkins lacrosse on that campus and with recruits is a big deal to Hop faithful. And Navy/Hopkins is never meaningless to those fan bases.
Completely agree here, don't find it the least bit obnoxious, just a person excited about a real nice attendance for a wlax game.
Some attendance numbers of past Hop-Navy games:
'03 at Hop, 3,280
'04 at Navy, 18,694...makes that 3,280 look rather tiny, eh?
'05 at Hop, 6,308
'06 at Navy, 13,857
'07 at Hop, 6,856
'08 at Navy, 16,042
'09 at Hop, 6,925
'10 at Navy, 10,128
'11 at Hop, 4,682
'12 at Navy, 11,917....lookin' like Navy is the place to go see a Hop-Navy game.
'13 at Hop, 3,640
'14 at Navy, 8,655
'15 at Hop 1,484
'16 at Navy 665...no idea what was going on here.
'17 at Hop 1,379
No games '18-'21
'22 at Hop 1,576
See no problem with using this match up to feel good about a 6K attendance for a wlax game.
It’s still deceptive cherry picking however. Whether or not Hop is experiencing a change in attendance is irrelevant to the original tweet which was that women are drawing more than men. The Maryland/Virginia game was the more appropriate attendance to point to.
AGAIN, you are assuming he was comparing men v women attendance rates straight up. My point was he wasn't!!! Accusing someone of being manipulate and deceptive because you think they are saying something they may not be is quite honestly, obnoxious.

Seems pretty clear he was deceptive. Why did he pick games from different days and times to make his point?

To be fair, we live in an age when someone says Jane did this and John did this, we automatically think, Is this about womanism, about female power, etc.? When, it may not be. It may be about Boston vs. Baltimore or whatever. It's not necessarily a gender comparison. But, in 2022, I fully understand one automatically thinking this is about gender. Myself included.

and...AND—HE included the Mlax and Wlax designations in the tweet so OBVIOUSLY he was trying to make a (deceptive) point about the difference between attendance at women’s lacrosse games as opposed to men’s lacrosse games.

I believe so. He and his wife are both listed as the coaches for the one of the Yellow Jackets 2025 teams. Since there are multiple teams theirs is differentiated by calling it “YJ 2025 Spallina”. I believe it’s also the team his daughter Alexa plays for

Aurora Cordingley (32G, 25A)
Hannah Leubecker (27G, 5A)
Libby May (20G, 1A)
Eloise Clevenger (8G, 14A)

Not a very balanced Maryland attack. Have any teams committed to faceguarding Cordingley yet this season?

I believe Rutgers did briefly. Maryland has other options besides these four with typically seven different scorers per game (although their schedule has permitted a lot of players due to the big leads). I would include Grace Griffin who is heating up and Jordan Lipkin who also is coming on. Also Shannon Smith is a threat.

I think you FG Cordingley and put your best defender on match up with Leubecker. Force everyone else to beat you.

The other scorer's numbers are also inflated due to level of competition, so, if they played a more difficult schedule, the numbers would be down.

I think the problem with defending Cordingley is that she is a threat to score and feed from anywhere on the field. She can attack in so many different ways and is very comfortable in her role with the Terps right now.

Fully agree, Doc. I hope a few teams try exactly what you spelled out here.

If you employ a FG, she will not have the opportunities to hurt you. She will get free sometimes, but it keeps her in check.

And at 5’ 4” it’s not like she’s going to tower over anyone trying to do that.

Agree. Their offense will be very disrupted if defenses do this

Doesn't JMU usually play a zone? If so, I get the FG on 45. But how then to simmer down Leubecker?
