I am not surprised that this is what occurred to call for the school’s actions. While I knew it could have been the case, I never thought Coach Kav used the slur to refer to a player, opponent, etc. If that had been the case, after the “investigation,” he would have been fired or on “permanent leave” immediately. While a certainly agree that there are times when the context is incredibly important and viewing things in a vacuum doesn’t do them justice, I am utterly befuddled that Coach Kav can’t READ THE F#&%ING ROOM. Regardless of what he was “referencing,” just don’t say it. It doesn’t matter if you are referencing historical significance and usage or quoting the lyrics to the WAP. These situations will not go over very well for many people, especially the cis-gender, white male.
