Re: All Things Russia & Ukraine
Zelinskyy continues to clean the Rooskies' clocks on the PR side - During his address to a joint session of Congress he plays a moving 3 minute video.
It probably doesn't matter in the short term but it might make a difference before its all over....if he has a country left at that time.
Turkey offered to broker a direct meeting between Zelinskyy and Putin today
Today's weapons aid package for Ukraine includes 100 Switchblade drones These are small, light, tactical drones which have GPS, operate from dozens of miles away and can loiter in the air up to 30 minutes before crashing and exploding into its target.
Reports today of Ukrainian counterattack on airfield north of Kyiv destroying multiple Russian helos on the ground.
WSJ Piece on how Ukrainian irregulars in the two-day battle of Voznesensk, where local volunteers and the military repelled the invaders, who fled leaving behind most of their armor and many dead soldiers.

Justin Trudeau ordered the bank accounts of ordinary citizens seized, with no court order nor even formal charges. Just an executive edict from the office of the Prime Minister. Banks either complied or they lost their license to operate, as well as their officers threatened with arrest for failure to comply.

Re: All Things Russia & Ukraine
If Zelenskyy does not offer an escape route which Putin will accept, the US will eventually go to war in Ukraine, along with some or all of NATO.
That will provide an opportunity to see if the use of tactical nuclear weapons can be limited to the battle space.

I don't think this is the right frame. Zelenskyy needn't offer anything Putin "will accept". Putin's military needs to be defeated. Aggression can't be rewarded.old salt wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 3:58 pm If Zelenskyy does not offer an escape route which Putin will accept, the US will eventually go to war in Ukraine, along with some or all of NATO.

If Putin then decides to use a nuke, that's when we declare that the Russian military has 24 hours to leave Ukraine and that anything firing at NATO's air cover or at Ukrainians will be destroyed immediately, and any identifiable Russians and military equipment not going the right direction after 24 hours will be destroyed immediately or confiscated. We don't retaliate with nukes and we say that loudly to the Russian military. But we destroy them if they don't turn tail or immediately surrender to the Ukrainians forces on the ground. We make it clear that they are welcome to surrender.
If they go nuclear again, katy bar the door, but we give their military an opportunity to revolt, the Russian people an opportunity to revolt.

And, at least in my opinion, "BLM" was not the perpetrator of those burnings. But if you're asking me whether those who actually did burn down buildings should be subject to confiscation of their weapons, bombs, petrol, etc, you betcha. If Putin decides to attack NATO in any way directly, he'll have made that escalation and his military will be utterly destroyed. If he goes nuclear, we should follow the playbook I suggested, providing an opportunity for the Russian military and people to revolt.
It will be a horror beyond words, but our restraint will pay enormous dividends.
Poland is already asking to send in ground forces...we need to be restrained at each step.

1. SANCTIONS on everything Russian,
2. Send intell & weapons to Ukraine,
3. Stay out of Ukraine but defend the first inch of dirt into NATO with the full force of NATO & USA forces

I'm prepared to do the same thing I described if nuclear if Putin resorts to chemical/biological. Don't retaliate in kind, but give the ultimatum to the Russian military to desist and turn tail, or surrender. Make sure they hear you loud and clear, but then destroy any who don't comply.
Hopefully that doesn't become necessary and the Ukrainians can break the Russian will with our support through #1 and #2. Won't be easy and unlikely to be swift, but I hope it's inevitable.

What are you getting at here? As MD said earlier today, you can't see the picture inside a 1000 yard view. You realize it discredits the opinions you are trying to make because they are so demonstrably hyperbolic. How did someone who was raised and lived in NY for so long become such an extreme member of the left?Brooklyn wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 6:30 pm France24 news is reporting tonight that thousands of men are fleeing Russia and crossing into Turkey to avoid the draft.
