Coaching plays a great deal in winning those Championships. UNC has had great talent for years and only has two Championships to show for it. Likewise BC has been in 4 straight Championship games with only one win. Don’t ever shirt the Cathy Reese’s and Kelly Amonte’s of the Lacrosse world ( or even Chris Sailer of Princeton with three championships).
I think it’s fear of UMD snapping back so quickly. The depth, the transfers the returning championship pedigree players and the top recruiting classes this year and next year. UMD wins so much that it causes a huge eye roll and exasperation in the lax world.

Snapping back so quickly?? What the heck have they done the last 2 years to warrant that statement. Nobody fears them. Trust me. BC and UNC would love to play them!

Maryland75 wrote: Mon Mar 14, 2022 2:40 pm Maryland has had a very successful start to this season but seems to get no respect. Granted they will not play their usual high powered schedule dropping UNC and Syracuse plus Penn and JMU are not where they thought they would be. They have apparently been very successful in transitioning their transfers to give them needed experience. Cordingley at her current pace is looking like a Tewie finalist and the addition of Bosco has given needed strength to their defense. They have demonstrated they have multiple scoring acumen with Leubecker, Smith, May and Griffin plus Clevenger being strong in finding the scorers. Even goaltending seems to be steady at this point. What does everyone see that I'm missing?
If I had a vote, and if were held this week. I would vote for Cordingley as the Tewwy winner...she has been nothing short of unstoppable.

I think Cathy was just trying to build up her team for later in the season. Oh and all that talent Jenny Levy amasses hasn’t gotten her much ever. Jenny’s the queen of Long Island without very much to show for it.

Yep--2 national championships and 6 ACC conference championships. A veritable pittance.

UNC won 5 of their 6 ACC championships after Maryland went to the Big 10. Speaks volumes! Maryland won 6 straight championships (2009-2014) prior to the year they left and 11 championships total.

Jenny Levy has been there for 30 years and got more funding than Maryland and under performed. And Acacia never won anything until last year.

North Carolina won both their national championships over Maryland.

2 national championships and 6 ACC conference championships. That’s what Jenny Levy has done with the Tar Heels. She won both national titles over Maryland. Anyone trying to diminish Levy’s accomplishments just loses credibility.

What does BC have to do with Carolina?

You won’t respond because Maryland has beaten all of those teams like Ike Turner.

Based on the players that have gone through the UNC program 2 National Championships is sad. I won’t take away the 2 championships they won. The first at Villanova was a three overtime victory. The second was a clear win in Chester for UNC. Maryland ruled the ACC when they were in that league and UNC’s success came after their departure. Five of the UNC ACC championships would most likely have been won by Maryland if they had remained. Enough about UNC. They’ve proven with all their talent they struggle to Winn in the Final four. BC’s victory last year is once again proof . I’m not so sure that last years lacrosse season shouldn’t have an asterisk since the IVY league didn’t participate and the Big Ten only played league games in a relatively weak year. BC was not the best team all year and really won it due to the outstanding play of Charlotte North and a hot goal keeper in the play offs. They peaked at the right time. Most teams schedule their out of conference games to build their skills for the post season and last year the ACC afforded their top teams games against each other which made them better prepared. Northwestern would’ve certainly benefited from this.

I know what you were “trying” to do with this attempt at humor but I hope you realize it’s, 1, An extremely bad choice of jokes, especially in todays climate and ESPECIALLY while talking in a WOMENS sports forum and 2, you didn’t finish the joke (thankfully) so it’s not even funny.

Like this time?

or this?

...and dad's right--using Ike Turner as a means for a joke is in extremely bad taste in this day and age, no less on a women's lacrosse forum.

The Terps couldn’t even get by Duke in the 2nd round last year and asterisks are being assumed for BC’s fluke title? The Eagles beat the #1 and #3 seeds on the way to the national championship. No one (with any credibility) can claim the Eagles “backed in” or assumed the role of “vulture” when all the other superior teams got bounced via upset. Nope—no way to besmirch BC’s first national title, unless you’re one of those arrogant, entitled, sore winner Maryland blowhard’s laxer12 so aptly characterized. Or more succinctly put—a Twerp.
