Joe Willie, Barton Hall might be slightly "creepy" at night. However, back in the day, and in the daylight, it was an amazing collection of Cornell personalities. I used to go there to train for the lax timed mile, and (unbelievably to me now) run three sets of five "towers".
On the East side of the hall, now-legends #10 and #17 would be playing basketball against all comers (I often wondered if they were hustling), tennis great Eddie Moylan might be practicing his stroke against the ROTC HQ wall. On any given day, resolute badminton players, ROTC drillers or track athletes in bright red might be in sight. Also, professors toning-up their health became equals with their younger students. It was a part of less structured Cornell that, although a bit dusty, was a sight to see.
Cornell 2022
Re: Cornell 2022
Cornell 7-4 over OSU at the half.
OSU scored the first 3, then the Red reeled off 7 before the Buckeyes answered.
Second half will be a battle!

Mine was up when it was 3-0 OSU.
Re: Cornell 2022
After a 10-10 tie early in the 4th, Cornell reels off 4 straight and holds on to win 14-11.

B.P. back to normal! 14-11! Great defense. Adler held Myers (7.5 ppg) to just 1 goal. Piatelli and Kirst 4 goals. Coyle 2 and 2. Coyle & Long on the field at the same time gives a great advantage. Ierlan 10 saves. Petrakis 16/29 over the OSU guy who was winning 75%. Petrakis & Adler AA candidates!

Re: Cornell 2022
Great game! Adler super and entire D solid again. Very sorry that Lombardi got hurt, but running Coyle on the first line and having Long back makes us very tough to defend. Petrakis again outstanding against another great fogo. OSU's wing play was superior to ours, but we can continue to improve. These slow starts are a little dangerous, and Ierlan looked shaky at first, but settled down nicely.
The league is powerful. Princeton over Georgetown.

Re: Cornell 2022
Great win. Great team effort, every aspect of the game.
Misc. Observations:
-Once again, a "slow'ish" start on offense. No one beating his man, not great movement, lots of tipped passes by OSU's poles. The boys really settled in afterwards and things opened up. Excellent effort, in particular by Coyle, Kirst (though 2 big TO's), and Piatelli. The O really plays well together, though at 9-5 in the 2nd half, things got dicey when OSU tied the score at 10-10 helped by 4 straight Cornell TO's
-Nice juggling job by Buczek - in the 2nd half, he was continually mixing and matching (largely) going with 5 middies (27-2-11-13-6. Lombardi is done for the year and this will probably be more of the norm.
-Defense - great day again, by Bartolotto and Adler. Entire group played well, though some issues, exacerbated by - see below.
-One of the worst ref'd games I've watched in a long time. For most of the 1st half, OSU set illegal pick after illegal pick behind the cage. I'm sure Buczek spoke to the refs at the quarter. There were only 2 more flagrant missed calls of note - another illegal pick on the sideline that led to a goal when OSU made their 2nd half run and the face-off when sp-? Ianuci clamped WAY too early. I think Petrakis stood there with his hands in the air. Also the face-offs were really physical, so much so that at one point, the FOGO winning the clamp, eventually lost possession.
-Shorties held up again - looks like Michael Bozzi has won the spot as the 4th ss. Held his own; small but quick.
-The disallowed goal for OSU - Cornell lucked out - the guy's toe was on the line.
Great win.

Ride was excellent— caused a couple turnovers when OSU could not clear in time

Re: Cornell 2022
'Forgot to emphasize how hard the 3 poles and shorties worked throughout the game. In the 1st quarter in particular, Ohio State had so much possession time. And throughout the game, they were on the proverbial "carousel," seemingly, on most possessions. Some of it was self-caused due to very aggressive doubles/decision-makinag.
Post-game, I'm sue the guys were absolutely exhausted, they really worked hard.

Ivy League 6-0 OOC today with Penn-PSU coming up at 4PM. So far this season, the Ivy League is 18-6 OOC. Interesting! Dartmouth is 2-1 OOC!

The TOP 5, yes TOP 5 (I HAD them 6th last week) Cornell BIGRED are clearly one of the best programs in the country and I will surely have them in my top 5 tomorrow. Coach Buczek ( I think I finally got it right) is absolutely amazing as has been shown especially in crunch time when it matters most, that he pushes all the right buttons. I said they would be a force when May rolls around and boy was I wrong, they are a force NOW and a COMPLETE TEAM. They can score, they can defend, they can play physical, they can play with finesse, they are deep and they are well coached.
We waited 2 years for this and it's incredible how all the pieces have fallen into place. Can you tell that this alumni has never been more proud of his alma-mater?

P.S. The IVY LEAGUE is one scary bunch and right now I would say they are AT LEAST a 4 team NCAA Playoff league and will have FIVE teams in my top 20 come Sunday night.

Maybe Hopkins should hire Cornell's coach.
Oh wait ...
