Blue Jays are actually playing this close considering those two stats. Kirson doing a good job in goal.

mentally ......we imagine UVA is playing the Jumbo's........only, think that Slumerville located team would be playing UVA better than Hopkins.

yup.....strip Joey, often and early.......he'll get his points in the 4th quarter ;)

Don't think it IS too cool you comparing Hopkins to Tufts...........even the uniform color.

oh, and easy scout is to keep #3 from ever getting topside..........not really an inside roll dodger, great hands, fer sure,.....

Simply not enough offensive threats. Vestiges of recruiting few true middies and mostly guys under 5’10”.

Just 25% of shots on goal for Hopkins.

Going deep into the shot clock to get a good look is fine. But that shot ABSOLUTELY needs to be on cage. To shoot high/wide there is as good as a turnover.

Ninth turnover. This Hopkins team has no poise under a tough ride.

When the other guys are bigger, faster and more athletic, poise doesn't much matter. Hope coach brought the full team so the bench can get some good minutes in the 4th quarter.

Turnovers, strategy…really just window dressing here. As an outsider with no skin in the game and with no proximity bias of watching one team closely and thereby overvaluing its players, there is just a massive talent disparity here. Would any Hopkins player start for UVA? I really don’t think so. A few second line UVA players would start for Hopkins. This is really just a huge talent mismatch.

Not true. This is a coaching issue. Kirson’s turnover on the crease is a perfect example. The spacing on that clear attempt was horrible. No easy outlet pass available and Kirson turns it over.

That’s just a failure to coach basics.

Their win against Jacksonville is going to carry some weight? Again, the proximity bias is blazing. Sorry, their history is what it is, and incredible, but they are not currently the standard bearer of Baltimore lacrosse, let alone college. It is frankly sad to listen to this commentary. Doc is in his cups but yeah, coaching issue. Of the top 20 best players in this game, maybe 16 are on UVA. When is the last time that Hopkins “should” have rolled top 5-10 opponents because they had significantly better players? It’s been a long time.

you could tell, the Hopkins coach was addressing the "system" during UVA's timeout.....and NOT the situation.

all even, and a guy gets a timeNroom 12 yard hands free shot ?

keep on telling us how coaching doesn't matter.......

Yes, we are out matched. We cannot match their athletic ability or lacrosse IQ

Doc: Kirson is a SIXTH-year player. If he can't make a good decision on an outlet pass by now, coaching is the least of it. (btw: UVa has something to do with our spacing, or lack thereof. As a result of their quickness and speed, they seem to be everywhere.)

Pain.

Narewski is in uniform again. If he's not an option, then why dress him? There are some teams you can survive going 1/14 at the faceoff dot against....Virginia is not one of them.

Let's see Phillips in the second half. I mean, why not. What are you gonna do, only score 1 goal again?

The talent disparity is as wide as the Grand Canyon. Hopkins only hope was to dominate face-offs and not turn the ball over - when those two categories are tilted so far in the favor of Hooville - it's going to be the 20 something to 5 rout you are experiencing - if Hopkins can get to 5. The optimism surrounding this season was built largely on Peshko, Grimes and Degnon providing outside threats opening up space for 3/32/23/4 to some degree. Injuries and maybe other issues have prevented that from occurring. Certainly Grimes has had a problem getting and staying on the field. Peshko will always have Rutgers @ State College in '21.
