Top 8 teams at end of season based on record make it. Pods just determine who you have on your schedule. The best teams have the hardest schedules.

Hope that's the case, and not two teams from each pod. The goal of having two brackets should be to have postseason match ups of somewhat even strength. If the teams that are probably 3rd & 4th best talent wise end up with 1st round consolation match ups against the 16th & 15th most talented teams, and the championship bracket has the 1st and 2nd against the 14th & 13th, then there will be some absolute blowouts.
