Re: All things CoronaVirus
I readily admit that I am influenced by mass media. How many people dislike Hillary Clinton and yet have never met her? How many people are afraid of east / west Baltimore but have never spent any time there and probably don’t know anyone that lives there personally?

well, you should be happy as all get out. if we didn't have the media scaring people to get vaccines for themselves (and not their children), we'd be somewhere between 1/4 and 2/3 fully vaxxed.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 8:33 pmNot like Afan. respectfully.... we are at 24% fully vaxxed, and less than 32% one vaxx for 5-11 year olds. and flat lining. so 68% are out entirely.
tucker doesn't pull in those kind of ratings.
broad brush strokes on media & misinformation don't get you anywhere near the numbers. something else is going on.
i'll brush it off.

Rage Virus - this is what right wing talk radio, then Fox stumbled upon as the success to ratings and cold, hard cash. The side effect was splitting our country in half. Talk radio always had a hard edge, but it turned into hours of angry guys yelling at you to be mad too about some faux outrage, some manufactured scandal, some molehill blown up into a mountain. Now it's everywhere. Every Facebook post, every YouTube comment, every Nextdoor comment. And China and Russia and others are stoking that division for just a few cents per post.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 8:35 pm“Media” has nothing to do with how people think.NattyBohChamps04 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 8:34 pm Yup, it's all an act. And a flip-flop as people like PB were cheering on these vaccines before they came out.
I also asked a while back if anyone could show me any vaccine that causes issues 6 months down the road or later. Crickets.
I'm not talking about issues that show up immediately that may last long term. I'm talking about issues that do not present (show up) until far down the road.
It just doesn't happen, at least that I could find. These vaccines already have very low rates of side effects, especially compared to the actual disease.
You're still gonna have people questioning the safety of these after we have 10 years of data. The first mRNA vaccines in human trials incidentally were 9 years ago. First animal use was 30 years ago.
The whole thing is an act.

Yep. I noticed years ago that there really wasn’t a liberal equivalent to Mike McConnell and Rush Limbaugh 30 years ago. Right wing media will tell you every station that isn’t right wing is liberal and these fools drink it…..sad. I remember a caller into McConnell’s show on WLW saying that he called the police and gave them the license number to a car on I-75 that was full of black people speeding and they must have done something….Mike said “you are just doing your part brother”….whenever I was back in Ohio I would turn to WLW and McConnell and each year the program got more vile…..Cincinnati may as well be Mississippi but with beautiful suburbs.NattyBohChamps04 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 9:03 pmRage Virus - this is what right wing talk radio, then Fox stumbled upon as the success to ratings and cold, hard cash. A positive for my trip! (booked a night separately for tomorrow night offsite and somehow my son scammed me into the grand bohemian when the $180 courtyard would've served just fine...I'm going to take it out of his next birthday present I swear!).

Re: All things CoronaVirus
Why do you think we're 90%+ vaxxed for MMR etc, and nowhere near that for three different vaccines?wgdsr wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 7:52 pm no. 5 to 11 year olds have been 24% fully (2 doses) vaccinated for covid. 32% have gotten one shot, and it's not climbing fast.
we're at about 30 something boosted.
the polls told you we weren't getting fully vaxxed before we even knew what end was up. if we don't get a more deadly variant, it's not changing much.
edit: 91 million boosted as of feb 4.
that's 43% of the fully vaxxed pop.
that's 27.5% of the u.s. population.
that's 32% of 12 or over eligible quite some time ago.
You don't think it's the media (which includes the internet)?
Remember, we can't leave out the context that if an American asks their doctors, 100% of them will tell their charges to take the vaccine if they don't have some condition to preclude it.
So America's personal doctors are 100% behind full vaccination. So what's keeping that from happening, if it's not media-internet disinformation?

sticking with just one of them... what is your explanation for us being at 24% for kids 5-11 vs. 75%? adults? who exactly are these people listening to? that it's right for them, but not their kids?

An imagined or actual attack on one right winger is going to be felt by most. An imagined or actual attack on a left winger is going to be felt by a small portion of the group.

But I picked precinct because it’s also housed in an office police precinct. There’s an irony in there I think.
Baseball stadium is nice too. Was an easier trip for me on weekends when I was working on the takeover of National City having to work for 3mo in the winter out of that wretched suburb of Dayton than heading up to Columbus. (There was a good steakhouse in Indianapolis too, spacing on the name, swear it was like St Elmos but I’m sure that’s wrong and I’m thinking of the old movie)

Re: All things CoronaVirus
Every doctor I speak with says the same thing. I have over a dozen in my circle of friends. My wife? Her best friends in HS are a married couple, both Yale educated pediatricians. I find it hard to believe that they're not all saying the same thing, because these doctors would be speaking out....not only saying they think the vaccine are bad, but would explain WHY they think they are bad.
And I asked them directly: do you know of any GP's or pediatricians that are advising their own healthy patients to NOT take the vaccine? I clarified---we're talking active doctors with a full General Practice...so not some MD making a buck on the internet without direct patients. They laughed. And they brought up all the vaccines that folks are already required to take for k-12.
Do you have evidence to the contrary?
Asked and answered. Internet. They're asking the internet, instead of their doctors. Clearly.
I ask again: what's your explanation?

here's why i onboarded:
- you said, paraphrasing, the reason why we're not 90+% vaxxed is because of "right wing" media. you've been seconded more than once.
- i countered --- but, but, but... look at what our children's vaxx rate is. and do we have 76% of people now slaves to right wing media?
- your answer -- yes, it's everywhere, getting piped in to blue states in particular.
i made that last part up. kinda. but i guess that's what you're saying? i'll say one thing... the right wing/republicans are really bad at elections!!!
