Putin was born, raised & educated in St Petersburg. He sees himself as the reincarnation of Peter the Great. It is his destiny to restore Russia to it's rightful place as a European power, dominant in eastern Europe. If he doesn't do it, it will never happen. He'll never again have as favorable an opportunity as he does now. Do his Generals share his vision & ambitions ? I doubt it.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 9:41 pmold salt wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 9:13 pmA military coup to remove Putin would be a dream come true, but it's likely wishful thinking.jhu72 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 9:01 pm Russian professional military not too happy about Putin's move on Ukraine.

Biden administration today stated that any American in Ukraine after Sunday is on their own.
They also advised Americans to go to Poland…unless you’re unvaccinated. Then you’re SOL to Old Joe; the American embassy will not process you and turn you back to Ukraine. I wish I was kidding.
Remember the planes of Afghanis and the illegal migrants coming over the Rio Grande. No vaccination card required.
But yes, a vaxx card required if you’re an actual American actually escaping a war.
What an administration.

What would have the Soviets done if America and NATO had collapsed, and the Soviets were the victor? Oh, I'm sure we'd LOVE what they would have done. They'd be sooper fair, and wouldn't have expanded their reach.
I can't believe that we have foreign policy wonks who still think that Putin gets to tell other countries what they can and cannot do. The Soviet Union failed. They lost.
Or a better way of looking at it? The Russians FAILED all their satellite Soviet States. THEY are the ones who left their own Union to twist in the wind.
And now, 30 year after this failure, they want to whine about NATO?

America used to be a country where we took pride in saying we would never leave any American behind in any country. We will come get you; your American passport meant the ultimate lifeline.
It’s one thing to make a hard decision after the fact (based on on-the-ground intelligence suggesting it would be unsafe to recover/retrieve Americans left behind) and not retrieve that American, it’s another thing entirely to simply say ahead of time we are leaving you and you’re on your own.
It’s still yet another thing altogether to say we are sending you back into a war zone because you’re unvaccinated.
I have a feeling most Americans think Biden has turned out to be an unmitigated clown who is doing things to us that we used to think only enemies would do to us. Should work out great on November 8…

LMAO that's a flat out lie. The US isn't requiring a vaccine to enter Poland. The US isn't enforcing any vaccine mandate to enter Poland. The US isn't sending people back to Ukraine if you aren't vaccinated.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 8:05 pm Biden administration today stated that any American in Ukraine after Sunday is on their own.

Poland is opening their border to US citizens so they may cross into Poland. You have to follow Polish protocol if you wish to cross. Any testing or vaccination requirements are all 100% Poland rules.
But sure, go on the internet and lie about it being the administration.

The U.S. State Department announced Saturday that Americans fleeing Ukraine may enter Poland, but U.S. citizens must present proof of vaccination against COVID-19. This appears to be a U.S. State Department requirement since Poland does not require vaccinations against COVID-19 to enter the country.

Hypocrite troll.

That’s me, Mr. Magnanimity…
"There is nothing more difficult and more dangerous to carry through than initiating changes. One makes enemies of those who prospered under the old order, and only lukewarm support from those who would prosper under the new."

You can't get into a Cold War with a pointless country OS. We've been in a Cold War with N Korea for how long now? Does anyone notice? Does anyone in America care, even a little? Or give even a moment's thought to N Korea? No, right? No one bothers calling it a "Cold War" because no one cares.
We didn't whine. We did something about it. Kennedy was the first and only President to stare down the Soviets at their height, and made them tuck tail and run. Scoreboard. I shouldn't have to explain this to you.Peter Brown wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 8:47 am Just like we "whined" about the Soviets in Cuba & Nicaragua.
All these so called policy experts asking us to cede sovereignty of former Soviet satellites to Putin because some guy in his 60's or 70's thinks that Putin owns (insert country). Nope. He gave that up when the Soviets went belly up. So stop with the "we need to think like Putin".
We don't have to think like Putin anymore than we have to think like Trump's Rocket Man. You put both of these short sighted checker-players on ignore. And life goes on, and no one gives them a second thought.
Invade Ukraine. Please. And then the one stupid claim that Putin "fear's having Nato on his border".... is the guy who intentionally puts NATO on Ukraine's immediate border. Way to go, Putin. Really cookin' with oil now.
Hearing these infantile explanations for how Putin thinks is a joy. I don't care how he thinks. He's an idiot. He's has total control of Russia for 20 years, and the country is still a complete joke economically. He's a KGB hack who can't govern. You don't have to be smart to murder your political opponents. You just have to be a d*ck.

Country may be a joke, their military is dead serious very dangerous. What Putin decides to do I guarantee he does not give two chits about sanctions or what Joe Biden tells him not to do.a fan wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 9:54 pmYou can't get into a Cold War with a pointless country OS.
