I realize this is a total troll on your part because of your hatred for Maryland wlax, but why don't you post your comment directly on the insta page for maryland's wlax, so the student athletes, coaches, fans, parents, and admin can respond directly to your comment.

I know that the players full time class load, 20 hours a week of allowed practice time and countless hours of voluntary extra practice pales in comparison to the time that you spend posting on this site, but maybe they are pretty proud of these pics and their team.

Please do do that and then let us know how that goes.

Has anyone else heard that UVA has lost a bunch of players who recently quit the team?

That would be a blockbuster story, especially on the eve of the new season.

Don't know this team well enough to see if anyone is missing.

I counted 29. And a quick random survey showed other teams carrying significantly more players:
JHU 41
Carolina 41
Florida 42

You're right: 29. And three of them are goalies. So 26 field players on the roster, eight of whom are freshmen. Huh.

Yep, looks like something's up in Hooville.

A quick comparison of last year's and this year's rosters shows the absence of the following from this year's roster (other than those who were seniors last year), with games played in 2021 in parentheses: Riley Hoag (8), Ella Vaughan (1), Jordan Vaught (1). Aislinn McCarthy (8), and Madisen Patrick (1). The key players are still there, so I would not ring any alarm bells, although a roster of 29 is definitely light by ACC standards.

Nice!!! Somebody actually did the easy thing and compared rosters. It’s entertaining to sit and watch the “developing stories” and “something up in Hooville” when all that was needed was an easy comparison of rosters. After the comparing the rosters, the logic was easy to follow - as runrusselrun proved.

I believe they all quit around the same time which makes it interesting so close to the start of the season. Another poster commented on how light the UVA bench was in their scrimmage with Stony Brook.

I’m sure they would agree with me, the players that is. I seriously doubt they would look at those photos and choose them out of the whole photo shoot. They look tired and uninspired.

Looking at the rosters would have only proved the point that 5 girls quit the team. The fact that they all quit at about the same time right as the season is starting is a story to me.

I did a quick look at UVA's opponents for this year. The 16 teams they play against had an average of 36 players per team on their rosters. UVA has 29 including 3 goalies, 8 freshmen and 1 grad transfer. No other team had below 30 players.

I did a quick look at UVA's opponents for this year. The 16 teams they play against had an average of 36 players per team on their rosters. UVA has 29 including 3 goalies, 8 freshmen and 1 grad transfer. No other team had below 30 players.

29 is a light roster, makes it really difficult to hold scrimmages which most teams do several times a week. As I mentioned a quick look at the roster seemed like 4 sophs and 1 junior left the team...whether or not they all left for the same reason at the same time is what is unknown.

Is it premature to ask--are there really only two top teams in BC and NC and then everyone else? Northwestern looked like anything but a #4 ranked team against BC, let alone a shoo-in for Memorial day. And even though #3 Syracuse had a fairly comfortable win, they obviously have some things to work on.

Yes, it’s premature to ask if we are in a two team race…but it does feel that way. And that makes sense. NU doesn’t “have everyone back,” and neither does Syracuse. BC has all its pieces, and enough to make up for the departure of Urbank. UNC has nearly everyone back, and has good players and transfers to step in for Hoeg, Wakefield and Woodruff, their biggest loses to graduation. So at this excessively early date, it looks like 1 and 2 and then everyone else steps behind. Loyola should be a Memorial Day weekend team.

Got to say I was really impressed with BC yesterday. First game, good opponent and they just did everything well.

Went to the store a little while ago and was talking with my little sweetie friend who works down there. Turns out she was a HS wlaxer (looks like a wlaxer...fast moving and fit). She had no idea about the rules changes and how wlax is played these days. Another one who was done with wlax after playing. Asked her the same thing I've asked a hundred wlaxers, given the choice would you play mlax rules or wlax rules. Got the same answer I always do, mlax. When I told her about the new wlax...shot clock (this one blew her mind) ...play on, 3v3 on the draw, etc, she was all kinds of excited, eyes lit up and will be tuning in to watch some wlax. Very nice chat, think I got a fan back.

Not sure NU is a top 4 team without Scane, I would say closer to #10 than #4...her absence was very noticeable to say the least and no way Gilbert can pick up the slack, in fact I'm guessing she will see the bulk of defensive attention and will have trouble replicating her stats from last year.

I think it's a 2 1/2 team race - BC/UNC and then SYR can either close the gap or fall behind.
