This ought to be good. All my friends who can’t find homes to buy down here. Hmmm.
You were wrong, flat wrong about high crime states. Then you were wrong, flat wrong about net losses in 5 specific states.
Total whiff.
You are correct that many of the fastest growing states are also red, but so too, some are blue. Some of the growth is from foreign immigrants, some is aging baby boomers seeking warmer climates. There really isn't a correlation, much less causal effect, shown from the data, much as you may wish it were so.
False. Trolling.
You were also wrong, flat wrong about Florida's aging demographic due to those retiring baby boomers. It's only mediated by immigrants from abroad and relatively high birth rates among those populations. Net, net, older.
How’s that inflation number today hitting your thesis?
Inflation???
yeah, we have high inflation right now. No connection to either high crime rates in Florida and other red states versus blue states, no relationship with population movement over past decade.
Again, a whiff.
In the real world, any human being not deranged by politics knows exactly what’s dangerous and what’s not. And those folks will vote on November 8.
Baltimore is indeed significantly more dangerous than any comparable city in Florida. And anyone knows that. Except perhaps a few here at Fanlax.

No one is arguing that there aren't very dangerous neighborhoods in Baltimore, destitution and drug trade plagued. Especially dangerous for young black men in the drug trade and those caught in the crossfire. True. Was true during the Trump era. The Obama era. The Bush era. Some Republicans see voter fraud behind every tree. Some Democrats see the rights of black voters being denied behind every tree. The same question to both parties.. where is the voter fraud and what black person has not been allowed to vote?

You don’t want to listen so not really a point in giving you an answer as if it hasn’t been explained that intergenerational baggage and current conditions would induce some to not vote and those are precisely the ones who aren’t going to go on tv and proclaim it because they are afraid. Don’t have to live in their shoes, just keep your eyes open and use some empathy (which I know you have) to see and understand this.
There’s zero comparison to explicit proof of a lack of fraud (or only by their homeboys) between the two. None. Zip. Zilch.

Re: The Biden - Harris Era.
Facts are what people sometimes manipulate them to be. I read the news every damn day about out of control crime in NYC. I don't read in our local news about the out of control crime rates in Florida. Are folks scared to death to ride the subways in Florida? Does Miami even have subways? How much of the crime in Florida is drug related? I don't think all those relocated blue hairs from NYS that moved into the retirement communities are worried that much about crime. Unlike yourself, they lock their doors at night and probably turn on their alarms. Not all of us have the privilege of living in gated communities that protect rich white guys and their families.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 9:09 amFacts were provided.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 8:53 amI don't know diddly squat about violent crime in Florida. Florida is significantly more dangerous than Maryland, significantly more dangerous than New York. Indeed, red states are significantly more dangerous than blue states.
Is there a political reason why this is the case? Or is it poverty?
My point is that you keep posting explicit claims on a series of topics that are demonstrably false. Lies. Trolling.
Yes, inflation is very high. Has nothing to do with your string of lies.
Florida has a significantly higher violent crime rate per 100K pop than New York.
Much more "dangerous".
Im not a "relocated New Yorker". I've never been a New Yorker. Have lived in Maryland, Mass, and NH...now some time in Florida, but for now a MD resident.
Petey then tried to change the subject to population growth, with some bald lies. Facts were again provided.
Now he's switching to inflation. Indeed, inflation is high right now.
Of course, for Petey all must align or be massaged to align with partisan attacks, rather than actual analysis.
When politics becomes your entire self, the obvious to everyone becomes an illusion to you.
Ok, MD, I’m just a “dumb” guy, as you repeat every day here. I don’t reply in kind because I know I’ll be booted from Fanlax, but honestly, it’d be nice if you and a fan stopped saying others are ‘dumb’ or ‘trolling’. Literally no one is or does.
Previously I posted a few links where Steve Schwarzman and Larry Fink said what I was saying so I gather they’re dumb too.
Now I’d like to introduce you to Don Peebles. I know Don; incredibly smart guy, sharp elbows but generous, no bs, no airs. Before you say anything about him, please note Don is African American. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard anyone say he’s dumb, so you might be first.
Please read what he has to say about your analysis of crime in a blue state (New York) versus a red state (Florida):
With overall crime surging more than 38% in the first month of 2022 (in NYC), Peebles Corporation founder, Chairman and CEO Don Peebles says the stats "absolutely" impact the city’s real estate market.
"I think that's going to create some problems in terms of revenue and resources for New York City and helping New York City come back from this pandemic," Peebles told FOX Business’ Maria Bartiromo on "Mornings with Maria" Wednesday.
Peebles, who has a multi-billion dollar real estate portfolio, claimed New York-based entrepreneurs have instead set their sights on the Sunshine State.
“It is a very big difference between the two environments," Peebles explained. "South Florida is very optimistic. People are doing business, people feel safe, especially in Miami and Palm Beach."

First, I haven't called you dumb.
But your dumb trolling and lies are exactly what I describe as such.
I think you're smart enough to know when you are posting something dumb or false. You needn't be the sharpest knife in the drawer to know the difference.
Which is why I think it's trolling. You actually know you're doing it.
I don't take issue with Peebles, Schwartzman or anyone else concerned about the value of their New York City real estate being impacted by crime.
They're smart to be concerned.
Miami also has its issues. Probably don't want to walk through Liberty City at the wrong time of day.
And violent crime does matter, at a minimum perceptually. Note that what these guys really want is for their real estate value to grow in NYC. But the much bigger issue these guys face is that people like working from home and that means they don't need to live close to the office in center cities. That's what they're really worried about for their center city office buildings and apartment buildings. The fundamental business model is being questioned.
But Peebles has another agenda too...he made a bunch of major investments in Miami and south Florida beginning in the 1990's...he's promoting the value of those existing investments with this statement.
Factually, Florida has significantly more violent crime per capita than New York. Is it simply more dangerous in the neighborhoods than in center city? Possibly.

Re: The Biden - Harris Era.
This was an interesting list of the most dangerous cities with pops greater than 100,000.
https://www.police1.com/community-polic ... ozi9fE9Xz/
But smaller cities often have considerably higher.
eg Liberty City which is part of the Miami-Date metro area: https://www.police1.com/community-polic ... ozi9fE9Xz/
Geographic boundaries have a lot to do with these relative stats, as the highest concentration of such crime is in a few neighborhoods of such cities, typically where the drug trafficking is concentrated. Customers come from the larger region, but the distribution points are concentrated, with 'turf' being at a violent premium.
Typically these areas are high poverty neighborhoods, whether in a city like Rochester that lost its industrial base, as is the case with so many small cities, or due to the legacy of redlining, the ghettoization of poverty due to racial and ethnic discrimination...often these go hand in hand. Drug trafficking is the replacement "industry", with tragic consequences for all.
And some metro areas are quite large, encompassing proportionately more suburban and wealthier neighborhoods, whereas others are more constrained geographically. Fouls up statistical comparisons.
For instance, we'd need to add up Balt City, Balt County, Anne Arundel county, and Howard County to compare with Miami-Dade metro....and if we look at just the most violent neighborhoods in that region, we'd have much the same stats; likewise, if we excluded those neighborhoods in Miami proper and Balt city proper, they'd look comparably safe.
Older cities, however, tend to have more of their poverty close to center city than do younger cities. Legacy of redlining.

As population migration occurs and density increases you’ll see even more crime in historically less dense places.cradleandshoot wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 9:18 amFacts are what people sometimes manipulate them to be. Are folks scared to death to ride the subways in Florida? Does Miami even have subways? How much of the crime in Florida is drug related? I don't think all those relocated blue hairs from NYS that moved into the retirement communities are worried that much about crime. False. Trolling.

yeah, we have high inflation right now. No connection to either high crime rates in Florida and other red states versus blue states, no relationship with population movement over past decade.

How much of the crime in Florida is drug related? Have you heard about pill mills and busses of indigents from every other indigent state going to Gl to get opioids and other drugs? There’s about 100 jokes about the FL/GA line around this. Other than a little bit of Alabama you mostly have to go through Ga to get to FL.

Have met Peebles seems very nice but can’t say I know him. I do know he throws around his skin color an awful lot to work subsidies out of the government as a billionaire (who nearly went bust in the financial crisis) not representing his African american cohort. What he’s trying to pull off in NYC is selling something that isn’t reality. Good for him but he’s a funny one to point out. Sounds like New York is much more serious about preventing "illegal" possession and usage than most states.

Something I’ll state, and I know the FLP will go bananas, is I truly don’t believe that most Democratic mayors and politicians want crime to fully subside. They use crime and homicide as ways to squeeze money out of government. When they let it go unimpeded, like now, they temporarily step up enforcement, but they actually don’t want crime and homicide to end fully. That would put a dent in their own business.
