Johns Hopkins - Towson
Re: Johns Hopkins - Towson
Besides championships there is not an area you can go to like Baltimore for lacrosse. Come in for the weekend. Go watch the best HS conference in the country on a Friday. Pick your flavor: At St Pauls, Gilman , Boys Latin, McDonough. Go out to get some seafood Friday night. Saturday, you can start at Loyola or Towson for a 12pm tilt . Always competitive games. In the afternoon hit UMBC across town vs a AE competitor . Then there is Homewood vs Penn St or vs UNC. Or, drive down to Annapolis and hit a Navy game vs Hopkins, Army etc. If you have women in the family there is always a 1pm face on Sunday. Im excluding some perimeter teams like Maryland because is don’t think is in the loop but very driveable (40min). We are talking for the area I’m mentioning 10 mile drives . You can’t do this anywhere else. Btw, the US Lacrosse Hall Of Fame is in town as well.

Just going by having lived on Conn Ave a little north of the Van Ness stop for 4+ years. Small battles aren't worth it.Essexfenwick wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 3:13 pm
Nope. Dc is embedded in md and md donated the land it sits on. Md also owns the Potomac River all the way to the DC shore. Georgetown was a Maryland town when the school was founded.

The OP was about how many good teams MD has. VA and NY have 5 but they're all from UVA and Cuse. MD has 3 but they're from 3 different schools which I think support the OPs point. NC has 2 schools that has won championships since 2000. Every other state has one.Gatsby wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 4:38 pmOh, relevance means championships. I'd say a title from the 1970s is less relevant today than more recent titles, so going back to 2000:Essexfenwick wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 4:25 pm The Md schools have 74 national championships historically.

By that logic UMD is equal to Michigan in football. Each have one ncaa era football championship. and yes..74 national championships will never be matched by any other place. Old Bay and Lacrosse is why the Lacrosse hall of fame is in Md.

I miscounted. The state of MD has 4 since 2000 but that still puts it at the same level as NC.Gatsby wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 4:38 pmOh, relevance means championships. If we're talking about relevance, then I'd agree. Maryland football has been about equal to Michigan in relevance in recent years with the exception being last year when Michigan made it to the playoffs.Essexfenwick wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 4:45 pmGatsby wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 4:38 pmOh, relevance means championships. For a state that has 7 (or a claimed 8) schools playing lacrosse, to be able to win the title only four times in the past two decades while other states can match that number with only 3 schools playing lacrosse (NC) or even exceed it with only 4 schools playing (VA), doesn't sound very dominant or relevant to me.Essexfenwick wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 4:52 pm 74 men’s championships most by far
