Tweeeet! Referee's time-out. Pulls RRR aside and quietly and calmly says, Run, as a general rule, I ignore the attacks on me and the refereeing of this game. For whatever reason, in sports, attacking the ref has become part of the game. But when the attacks are coming from one player repeatedly, this is different. Take it down a notch. Tweeeeettt! The good, the bad and the Shakey
If you love Neil Young, you have to learn to turn an indulgent eye on the trashy music and trashier comments. Xan Brooks explains how he's come to terms with being a true fan
Politically-speaking, its hard to exorcise the ghost of his 1980s pronouncements, when he swung hard-right behind the Reagan presidency and lashed out at gays ("you go to the supermarket and you see a faggot behind the F 'ing cash register, you don't want him to handle your potatoes") and welfare spongers. "Stop being supported by the government and get out and work," Neil advised. "You have to make the weak stand up on one leg, or half a leg, whatever they've got."

Jeff Zucker just resigned from CNN due to a personal relationship with a colleague. The colleague just happened to be a former Cuomo comms director. So as of now the Cuomos have taken out each other, Zucker, Alphonso David of The Human Rights Campaign as well as Tina Tchen and Roberta Kaplan of Times Up!. Am I missing anyone?

That was by design. Imus produced & released 2 albums to support his "charity ' ranch in which he asked his singer friends to cover songs that they might not otherwise do. He picked unlikely pairings which he thought would be as good as the original, just different.jhu72 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 8:45 amyupDMac wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 8:26 amJust a titch, eh?jhu72 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 8:21 am...more mellow than MeatLoaf.DMac wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 8:15 amWow, just fantastic!!old salt wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 1:57 am...try this. Thanks for posting.
He did quite a job with that, outstanding rendition.
Some of the singers resisted, at first. Imus had to push them out of their comfort zone. It worked.
I really like Meatloaf, but I think JJ's rendition did better justice to Jim Steinman's brilliant songwriting.
It makes the listener focus on the lyrics & the sentiment being conveyed.

CNN’s ratings are trash. Too many ‘shows’ and not enough news.
ATT basically owns CNN right now, but CNN is leaving when the media division called Warner Brothers Discovery (WBD) is spun out mid year this year. The interesting thing is, it’s not a certainty that WBD even wants it. David Zsaslav will be chair and CEO but he’s noncommittal on keeping CNN. John Malone appears to be the largest shareholder, and he’s agitating to getting CNN back to its news days:

It sounds like CNN is on its own for the time being, without any real accountability to anyone. Now with Zucker gone, and a three-headed replacement, who knows what happens.

Neil Young expands on his decision to leave Spotify - Did not realize how Spotify reduces the data feed in digital music to stream more content at a lower quality level. Makes sense for Young on one level but doesn''t explain why he accepted those terms from Spotify in the first place if, in his opinion, it significantly degraded the quality of his music.

“As an unexpected bonus, I sound better everywhere else. But in the new letter, which Young posted earlier this week, he wrote: “When I left SPOTIFY, I felt better.”
He wrote in full, “Digital music has been with us about 40 years now. Digital, rather than reproducing copies of the music as we did back in the analog day, reconstitutes it from 1s and 0s and plays back data that you hear as music.
“This allows business people like those who run SPOTIFY to cut the quality right down to 5% of the music’s content. It’s just math. It’s easy to do that with digital, thus allowing more songs and less music to stream faster. That’s because 95% is missing. Thats what SPOTIFY the Tech company does. SPOTIFY then sells you the downgraded music.
“When I started everyone got to hear all the music. 100%.
“AMAZON, APPLE MUSIC and Qobuz deliver up to 100% of the music today and it sounds a lot better than the sh*tty degraded and neutered sound of SPOTIFY. If you support SPOTIFY, you are destroying an art form. Business over art. SPOTIFY plays the artist’s music at 5% of its quality and charges you like it was the real thing."

Don't get me wrong. I have been a Neil Young fan for a very long time. His music had a lot to do with me wanting to play acoustic guitar. For goodness sakes Neil, a shave and a shower and a haircut can go a long ways.

I don’t think the cancel culture mob is done with Spotify just yet. I’d expect some big names to depart, then bigger names, until the left hoist the CEO’s head up for all to see, because it’s all about conformity and state obedience anymore.

Too much media, too much politics, too much inaccurate information, too much
arguing (non stop) for my taste anymore. I just thought the "when you're so woke

Just as an add, you click on the weather today to see what's happening and it's all
in red with exclamation points and warnings. We're going to get up to a foot of snow
(maybe). Imagine that in Syracuse in February. Everything is scary in the world anymore.
Speaking of February, did you guys see what the groundhog saw for a shadow on Groundhog's

B. Digital can be art unto itself. David Byrne has been working this angle for a decade or more now. It’s digital Distribution for the profit motive wrapped in a business model, not the conversion, that’s the issue but an important distinction.
