Interesting comment he made...many here have said the civil war was fought over slavery, and he disagrees with that.
I suspect he meant that it wasn't because of the morality of slavery, but rather over the economics and power (of slavery).
And that's a fair distinction....though easily misunderstood.

Often, it's just an 'acceptable', 'polite' or in some cases 'genteel' overlay to the deeper set of assumptions about the proper order.
