And those souls who are elderly or have weakened immune systems pay the price of having unvaccinated people around them who are more likely to harbor or transmit any disease.
In my Twitter feed this morning, mention was made of a case of schoolchildren bring home COVID very recently, and both Mom and Grandma (vaccinated) die. Mom had high risk factors, and Grandma very elderly.

vaccines didn't really help after infection for case rates and hospitalization. and by the time delta rolled around, infection immunity protection was much greater for both cases and hospitalizations than just vaxx alone. more similar to the israel data once you get 4,5,6 months out on the vaxx.

The study examined four categories of people — unvaccinated and vaccinated who survived a previous COVID-19 infection, and unvaccinated and vaccinated who had never been infected — in California and New York between May and November 2021. The highest case rates were among those who had neither been vaccinated or previously infected. The most protection against infection and hospitalization was in those who had both been vaccinated and survived an earlier bout with the virus.youthathletics wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:20 amNatural Immunity stronger than vaccine vs Delta says CDC: https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medica ... np1taskbaryouthathletics wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 4:24 pm Let it rip Boris: https://twitter.com/joelaxin2/status/14 ... 17024?s=20

Unvaccinated, no prior infection, have highest hospitalization and deaths.
Vaccinated (2 shots) much better than unvaccinated.
But prior infection (survived) even better than 2 shots.
2 shots plus prior infection much better than prior infection.
But they didn't rank vaccinated and boosted...which apparently dramatically reduces hospitalization and deaths, as does 2 shots plus prior infection.
all versus Delta...and before boosters...
Seems pretty obvious that 2 shots plus booster are best bet under one's control...and if prior survived infection then all the more protected.
Worst bet is to stay unvaccinated.
Re: All things CoronaVirus
Such a nonsense story. You realize you have to live through one round of delta infection to achieve this status - MAYBE. A point at which you have no natural immunity, no vaccine immunity. Then if you are lucky statistics works for you, you get a degree of immunity that is stronger than the average for vaccines. But not every natural immunity cases wins the lottery, sometimes you get less immunity than the average vaccine immunity.youthathletics wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:20 amNatural Immunity stronger than vaccine vs Delta says CDC: https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medica ... np1taskbaryouthathletics wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 4:24 pm Let it rip Boris: https://twitter.com/joelaxin2/status/14 ... 17024?s=20

My question is what are the implications of "long covid"? Is this phenomenon limited to immediate period or a persistent complication of the circulatory system? In that case, I'll pass on "natural immunity" as it may come at a staggering price. Absolutely...don't go looking to get infected, period. It's simply a bit of good news for those of us who, despite being boosted and careful almost all of the time, contracted (likely) Omicron anyway.
Re: All things CoronaVirus
You have two distributions you are trying to compare. It is not clear they are of the same form / type. The width of these distributions matters, it is not just a question of average, median (peak may matter more). I think (this is just guess) more time has been spent in characterizing / studying the various vaccines than the natural immune response. Before someone turns this into a conspiracy theory, this is to be expected as like it or not the medical community is going to study what has been decided and agreed to by the community as the more important questions to be answered.wgdsr wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 1:09 pmisn't there an average for infection immunity? are there large enough studies out there that help stratify the variance and distribution of each? there may be, asking. -- none I am aware of.
