The lack of lacrosse IQ on this team is stunning. Nice screen 23.

Thank god for 32. He's really all the Jays have.

Darby is so weird to figure out...he's making a bunch of nice saves in close. Then he whiffs on the outside bombs.

Where would this offense be without Epstein? Don't even want to think about it.

Cattoni not playing again, Keogh playing but banged up and hasn't been able to practice.

“4 on 4”

Which is really 5 on 5. Good job, ESPN. 🙄

up
prouty-11/12 and counting
darby, strong performance
epstein
baskin/keogh-continue to deliver
clears 22/23

down
marr/williams/forry/cole combined 1 goal 1 assist 9 turnovers at last check against an auto bid conference team. Big part of the goals let up is bad offensive possessions forcing middies to play d. Some of these guys also play manup which was a mess until the ct on the clear opened things up.
man up 2/6 and 2 faceoffs turned into opportunities the other way.
narewski 1/5 faceoffs
danny jones, he's a captain and 2 more penalties

whatever
they mentioned taite is done for the year and will pursue a redshirt. too bad. flashed well. rotating cast at that midfield spot.
third straight game they've allowed a goal w/in last 10 seconds of a period.

Unsung hero: Prouty was 11/12 from the X.

Sung hero: Darby had 12 saves (75% save percentage)

Offensive MVP: Epstein 3g, 1a

Lost soul: Williams

Huge bummer. Sounds like he's going to redshirt though. Hoping it doesn't impact his longterm development.

Darby was lights out after the miracle goal right before halftime. Needs to carry that into Delaware on Saturday.

The offense again was garbage. Luckily, Darby + Prouty + Epstein = win. Don't think that's going to cut it against the Hens and certainly not against Virginia in a week and a half.

25-26 on clears is a very good number—the transition game has been solid and with the 6v6 offense a genuine nightmare, this team needs to lean on that more and make it more of its identity. Push transition whenever it's available. Kuhn, Hubler, Jones, even Foley, who by the way, is lightning fast clearing the ball. You can see the LSM in him still.

Rapine had another great game. Kid has elevated his game this year. Unfortunately it hasn't helped the defense much.

DeSo and Williams both have the yips. I don't know what can be done about that but it goes without saying that this team is probably going nowhere if they don't figure things out soon.

Jays needed a win and got one. Moving on. Delaware on Saturday. Another must win.

Finally, the Jays had an excellent 2nd qtr., outscoring MSM 5-1.

Foley was all over the field. His great energy was infectious for the D.

He did say this but I find this hard to believe—if McManus develops into a solid SSDM as they're clearly hoping he does, no way they make him move back to pole when we have a plethora of poles already and literally only 1 other SSDM (Hubler) next year. This is a long, long way away but when Kuhn is gone, Reinson moves up to #1 LSM and you've a half-dozen guys (Lyne, Blondell, Gomez, or one of the incoming freshman class which is pretty loaded with LSM-types—Rodgers who's insanely talented, Ruddy, Finley-Ponds, Jaronski). Unless the McManus experiment backfires or there's a bad injury, he's staying put IMO.

One other thing I forgot to mention—why on earth is Jones going after their goalie late? So, so bad an unncessary...I've defended him before from questionable penalties, usually chalking it up to playing hard with a little bit of an edge (which is fine) but that was the epitome of dumb and could have cost the team big time if this were a closer game.

Agree that Foley was everywhere, he's having another All-American season for a defense that needs to rise to his level of play.

Johns Hopkins University Class of 2013
The 2018 Syracuse Orange lost 18-7 at home against the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. People forget that.
The 2019 Orange didn't forget that.
Nice bounce back win after the disappointing loss in the Dome.
Bit of a shaky start, but all's well that ends well...Epstein's a playah, fun to watch.
Scored a very nice wrap around coming from behind the cage in the Dome. Quick move, nice shot.

Prouty is 16/19 (84.21%) at the X in his last two games. Loved how he either won it cleanly or flipped it to his wings. Really brilliant performance. Perfect feed to Epstein.

Benefit of having two FOGOs. One guy who you've been relying on goes cold, you bring in a new guy, and he plays well. Something we haven't had in awhile. Moreland was mostly good on his own of course but the guys behind him could never really provide a spark when called upon.

Not ready to annoint Foley aa when they're giving up 14+ a game to non msm type schools.
that's two weeks in a row with jones and dumb after the play penalties like it's 6 games in a row with most of the top middies+non epstein attack mia in addition to giving up end of period scoring.
Keogh+Baskin deserve to play on the first midfield line.
also worth noting forry and connor are on emo, they're seeing the offensive field as much as anyone and delivering very little.
bigger positive for me is that prouty improved and bounced back.
nice to see the backup goalie, jake fox and some other kids get run. Guys who play the big minutes aren't the only ones in uniform who contribute to the team.

if you had told me that Jays scored 11 with Marr and Williams shut out, I would say that is a sign that other offensive threats are emerging.

That performance buys you 4-9 maybe 3-10. Marr and Williams had as many turnovers as shots - there goes the goal scoring streak. Both of them were awful. If you were 4-1 or something like that going into this game you could write it off as a big letdown - this team was 2-3 giving up 17/18/10/12/14 goals. They don't deserve to overlook anyone

cole 6 goals (and 3 in 5 if you take out princeton)/15 turnovers in 6 games, last year 35/22 in 17.
marr 12 goals/11 turnovers 6 games. Last year 41 goals, 12 turnovers in 17 games.
connor disimone 1 goal, 5 turnovers, 1/14 shooting 6 games. Last year 16/57 shooting, 9 turnovers 17 games.

that's 19 goals, 31 turnovers from our two top returning attackmen and top returning midfielder through 6 games including the midweek one. Not good!
