Talent is rhe answer.

When you aren’t getting the players highest on your list particularly at a highly valued position like SSDM you work with what you have.

But to your point coaches rank players by position and positions by need. Coaches play the players they believe gives them the best chance to win. But please do share Petro’s recruiting matrix so everyone can see how it compares with the talent that enrolled. The talent drop off is significant compared to what it was. Its not that the talent isn’t good its that small cumulative differences can gave a big effect.

The players that played are a function of who enrolled. One thing i have not heard from almost anyone from the community is Petro was not playing the players that gave the team their best chance to win.

It was time for him to leave after….. I am glad he ended up at Cuse with GG.

Please, 06, you're the only poster who told us about the unathletic kids at Hopkins, the AD's indifference to Hopkins Lacrosse, wrong players on the field, etc, etc? Hopkins eating their young wasn't coined by me and can/could be seen on the Hopkins thread years ago. Yes, tens of thousands of loyal Hopkins fans but this is about Hopkins Thread posters here and the tone of that thread for quite awhile now. DocB has been the most loyal and positive fan there for quite some time now. He's the man! 8-)

Further derailing, but there used to be a LaxPower poster named steel hop who was generally critical of the Jays as well.
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.

I know I have come out of hibernation too soon when I fall into this rabbit hole where the cats are fighting about poster attitudes and personalities. As I crawl back in I offer a memory of Gait vs Petro in one of the championship games where they battled mano a mano for the whole game. Petro gave Gait hell for the whole game until Gait scored the winner. Unforgettable. These are two competitive guys. How will that show in their coaching if at all? Can't wait. Ah back to sleep./quote]

So steel hop is representative of the hopkins lax community? Not.

I recall numerous posters asking why Zinn wasn’t getting minutes. An example of poor judgments by coaches. Zinn left after not showing any better last year.

It will be interesting to see how Zinn fits in at UVA. Could join the rotation at ssdm or could contribute as a second I middie if he improves his shooting.

It was never so much the shooting as much as it was how frequently he struggled with ball pressure.

2022 Schedule is up.
Playing Army mid-week is new.
Looks like they've got the same ACC set-up playing UVA and ND twice again. Wouldn't have hated it if the league switched that up this season.

The Cuse schedule breaks down like this...

SYR avg win probability: 52.9%

Avg Opp. Offense: 27th
Defense: 27th
FO Unit: 34th
Goalkeepers: 27th
Avg Opp LaxElo: 1633

This is the 7th most difficult schedule out of the 65 teams in D1 MLAX with 5+ games scheduled.

Nonsense. Cuse has always gone out of their way to honor SA. That midweek date was likely set by both coaches to fit it into their schedules .

Army plays Sienna and NJIT before Cuse and Holy Cross after . They will be well rested coming into Dome.

Cuse plays Maryland and UVA before Army and Hobart after. No rest for the weary.

And Army is relatively close. All the other Saturday Non conference games requires a lot of travel. Hard for a midweek game. Alternative would have been swap out HC for the first game of the season.

Sienna and NJIT were a combined 1-18 last year , Army starters will hardly play in those games and will be well rested while Syracuse will be facing the two teams that played for the national championship.

That date was set to fit Army if you look at the respective schedules. They have UMass scheduled in first game .

Syracuse could have simply told Army that they cant fit them in this year but they respect the academy and put the game into their soft part of schedule to accommodate . Cuse will play them 4 days after UVA .

Large advantage to Army

Spin it anyway you want bottom line Cuse always plays third game of the year on a weekend day. Army usually plays NJIT on a week day.

well, if that's the case, your problem is with the acc. if not aware, the conference is playing a 6 game regular season this year. the conference dictates game dates. unless you think cuse should withdraw from the conference to protect army on a february saturday?

no one cares about the day of the week a lacrosse team plays games more than fans. except head coaches. they wish every game gave them a week to gameplan.

Spin it any way you want but the mere suggestion that Cuse shows the SAs no respect
lends no credibility to your post(s). Absolute BS, whining about fabricated horseschidt.
