Re: All things CoronaVirus
I chopped up your post because you asked a ton of questions....
All 50 States STILL have mandatory vaccination laws on the books, Tech. Every one of them. So that destroys any idea of "they don't trust the government". Yeah...they do trust the government. Well over 90% of us do.
Remember: the ONLY thing these people won't take is the vaccine. They'll take invermectin. They'll take the monoclonal treatments. They'll trust their doctor for ANY other advice except Covid. And yep, they'll take the new pill from Pfizer without question.
So how do you explain this? And telling me gee whiz, "this is really complex" is absurd given all the numbers I gave you when it comes to taking every Vaccine and Covid-treatment EXCEPT the 3 vaccines.
It's the internet, tech. It can be a guy like Rogan telling how invermectin worked for him. It can be a fired Doctor handing out his quackery. It can be some random guy telling the 200 people on his facebook page that Bill Gates is chipping the vaxx. All of them connecting to gullible Americans via the internet.
And all of this nonsense disappears if these Americans simply ask their doctor what's best. They're not doing that. They're trusting "some guy on the internet" instead.
Yes. But that's, oh, about 2% of the US population, tech. That doesn't come anywhere close to explaining the numbers we're seeing in many counties for Covid vaccinations.tech37 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 1:50 amDidn't the anti-vaccination movement start long before there were any "internet personalities" and was rooted in religion? And doesn't the, vaccines causes autism idea, predate "internet personalities" too? Much of that I think was due to the fear caused by an actual rise in autism? In general I think anti-vaxx sentiment easily predates today's social media, don't you?
No. And that's my point. People still trust doctors, assuming they can afford one. The vaxx rate in 2020 was 93%+ in every State, tech. So that "they don't trust authority" explanation doesn't come anywhere close to explaining what we're seeing. You understand that, right?---that our REAL vaxx rate was 93%+ for DECADES until CovidVaxxes showed up.

Your bias is showing. In what world are anti-vaxxers going go A. catch a stump speech from Biden or Harris, or B. actually do what they say?tech37 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 1:50 am Throw in a toxic political climate and pandemic and you have the perfect storm. This has nothing to do with the discussion
"There are many contributing factors". Great. Name them. Name something that's going to have a greater impact on vaxx rates than the internet.

He told the unvaccinated " “For the unvaccinated, we are looking at a winter of severe illness and death. For themselves, their families and the hospitals that will soon be overwhelmed.”
You guys have been asking for clear messaging, no? Well, there you go. You should be thrilled.

hmmm, was there a massive media campaign, primarily partisan, opposed to what the public health experts were recommending back during Trump's tenure?youthathletics wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 1:47 pmYou all tell me.....maybe we can go back to page one and start the thread all over again. Welcome to the spin zone....Last I checked, Trump Admin was getting shitz on by every angle if they even breathed incorrectly at the onset of this virus. Now we are coming on year 3, colleges are shutting down Ivy none the less, and it is now stated that omicron appears more dangerous to children. The difference....everyone was in uncharted waters in early 2020, now with two years under our belt, seems silence is the word of the day for our PINO...but I suppose since he doesn't tweet mean things and makes only 'subtle' racist comments about black entrepreneurs its all okay.MDlaxfan76 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 2:58 pmhmmm, was there a massive media campaign, primarily partisan, opposed to what the public health experts were recommending back during Trump's tenure?youthathletics wrote: ↑Fri Dec 17, 2021 1:47 pmYou all tell me.....maybe we can go back to page one and start the thread all over again. I think I can differentiate between Trumpists and R's like me, just fine.
But yeah, Trump was a massive mess on this topic and it's predominantly his followers who became so adamantly opposed to wearing masks and to vaccines. Not 100%, but predominantly.
I'm not sure what Biden could do about that partisan campaign against public health...but if you have a suggestion, go for it...share away.
and you're right, Trump was overtly racist, Biden can indeed be awkward...pair of old white guys...but one is overtly racist and encourages and rewards the most virulently racist among us...and that' ain't the old guy currently in office.
BTW, you want me to poop on a Dem?
What the heck is with Pelosi in not supporting reforms to Congress making investments in companies?...that's a disgrace that both sides have been complicit on, but she's got the gavel, so shame on her...IMO.

Re: All things CoronaVirus
Peak hospitalizations in the US were about 130,000 in early January 2021 and almost reached 90,000 this past august with the Delta surge, and right now we're in the 60's, up from the 40's as we came down off of the Delta crest...looks like we're gonna go up and up, but what do folks on here predict?
Omicron is spreading like wildfire, but hospitalizations appear to be almost entirely among unvaccinated and/or, to lesser extent, unboosted if vaccinated. Still a lot of those as only about 1 in 6 of us are boosted, though that's growing now...
