If there is a need for depth maybe but since when did Connor Delaney become Michael Pellegrino?DocBarrister wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 11:29 amEven if it’s April 2022 and Delaney, the team, and the coaches want him back on the roster … and the rules permit it … then I suspect he returns to the team. Lots of contingencies there, but if adding Delaney in April means the Blue Jays will have his services for a potential playoff run, they should go for it.Sagittarius A* wrote: ↑Fri Nov 12, 2021 10:28 amI recall there was a football player at Maryland one year who ended up joining the lacrosse team for like one game in the middle of the season. For some reason he got out of spring football practice. I think he was a senior or something. He played SSDM but he like joined the lacrosse team right in the middle of the season and actually played in a game.wgdsr wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 7:03 pmnot saying there's some huge percentage chance, but he's probably been going from basketball to lacrosse his whole life. this wouldn't be any different other than the stage he's at in his life. not sure how we'd know which way the wind blows, but sounds like he hasn't ruled it out.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Thu Nov 11, 2021 5:32 pm Let me be clear - I am not suggesting in any way the lacrosse coaches have said or done anything with regards to Delaney. Given the fact that the earliest Hopkins basketball is over is Feb 19 - the lacrosse team will likely have played 4 maybe even 5 games - then there's practice acclimation - fairness to the LSMs that have been there the entire time etc - it doesn't even seem remotely possible. I was just wistfully wondering if - for example - basketball ended Jan 31 or something like that - would that change the equation. I think we have established that he is not receiving any DI scholarship money - so I don't think that's an issue. After 4-4.5 months of basketball the last thing Connor probably wants to see is a lacrosse stick.
probably come down to both sides' willingness. there's only 1 month + elapsed and as much as 3 months still to go.

We would hope Jared Fernandez will be able to take time there. He's been laid up unfortunately since we got him though it seems like.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Yeatman is the guy who started at ND and transferred to Maryland. He played tight end in FB and attack in lax. He bulked up and became an OT in the NFL.
I believe his dad had gone to Maryland. I can remember his leading JR’s red white cheer.

There doesn't seem to be a shortage of poles on this team, especially if Fernandez can come back healthy. Still, Delany has some serious game and I wouldn't mind seeing him back at some point. Hopefully he still wants to play.
The biggest issue facing the team right now would seem to be Narewski's knee.
I'm not concerned about the goalie situation for the first time in a long time.
Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
after looking at that lsm list and HOB videos had jaronski at short stick I believe a)we need delaney b)it's woefully short on experience c)feels like the loser of the competition next to lyne/mcmanus might find a spot there d)no way to trust ferndandez physically. Smith szuluk jennings rodgers ruddy calnan, a few of you like todaro-someone is not going to get consistent minutes and would appear to have more tools to see the field than that lsm list.Sagittarius A* wrote: ↑Sat Nov 13, 2021 10:21 amThere doesn't seem to be a shortage of poles on this team, especially if Fernandez can come back healthy. The last time Hopkins football lost more than 3 games was 2007 - went to the NCAA title game three seasons ago
The bigger sports news is the women's volleyball team's repeat dreams and 66 match streak are over - lost 3-1 to Tufts
Field Hockey (Final Four) and Women's Soccer (round of 16) still alive
Women's XC just marches on - I know it's a smaller/niche sport but in the NCAA regionals they placed 5 of the first 6 runners - going for 7th national title

Johns Hopkins athletic teams are doing shockingly well considering that the university is currently being led by the purportedly worst President in Johns Hopkins history.51percentcorn wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 7:01 am The last time Hopkins football lost more than 3 games was 2007 - went to the NCAA title game three seasons ago

if you were busy sunday this guy is going to be a very successful head coach very very soon, and it's going to be wonderful publicity for the program.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
Very very soon? What he's done so far is impressive but he's 28, has no coordinator experience, and only 2.5 seasons of being a position coach. If he continues on this trajectory maybe big Bill or another coach will give him a shot as a defensive coordinator in a few years, and if he does well at that, then, sure, maybe after that he gets some looks as a head coach but that's a lot of maybes, a lot of years from now until that point and would require everything to align absolutely perfectly as we know the NFL is not exactly a meritocracy (case in point: Belichick doing Petro a solid by hiring a recent Hopkins lacrosse graduate with little to no football, coaching, or football coaching experience). He's nowhere near being one of the "next in line" guys like Daboll, Bieniemy, Moore, Leftwich, Eberflus, etc. Matt Patricia was on Belichick's staff for 8 years before he was made defensive coordinator, and then he was DC for 5 years before he became a head coach (which he promptly squandered but that's beside the point).jhu06 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 5:07 pm if you were busy sunday this guy is going to be a very successful head coach very very soon, and it's going to be wonderful publicity for the program.

Re: Johns Hopkins 2022
'06 you've become obsessed with Pellegrino and the Patriots. It's not going to be wonderful publicity for the program - his bio will always read Johns Hopkins All american lacrosse player and people will always not bother reading it or forget it. There are 32 NFL teams - or something like that - so probably less than 400-450 coaching jobs. Has Chris Hogan led Penn State anywhere really? I doubt it. Better to focus on the less glamorous alumni pipeline that might produce real jobs.
In fact, your more likely scenario is he drops down and gets a decent football job with a school that also has lax and ends up helping recruiting against Hopkins.

UGH. Hey RD. We DO NOT LIVE IN A DEMOCRACY. We LIVE in a REPUBLIC.
Dude, how did you even get to be a professor at JHU? OMG. So tragically sad on so many levels.
This is truly the beginning of the Apocalypse.
My degree is totally worthless now. At least there's some hope for a winning season this Spring.

What you are objecting to is making a fetish of one marker of democracy: Universal Suffrage (the means) over the more important end (individual liberty).
The founding fathers, as students of history, were wary of Universal Suffrage, partly because they knew it often led to tyranny (as the Greeks would have used the term, even if the Greek Universal Suffrage was never exactly Universal).
Today, we can broaden the Greek usage of Tyranny to describe undermining the original scope of the national government, limited to delegated powers in the written Constitution.
So, yes, Democracy is not the same as limited, constitutional government.
But, what other means is better for achieving that end?
Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
