There is a small likely hood with this platform for people who have already had adnenoviral infections to have some adverse issues. I do not know how it all have played out in that regard as I have not been following this aspect that closely.

It is a really interesting tool
Adverse as in death?

If so, I'd take your point that had Petey not been talking about lots and lots of shots, and only about J&J, theoretically at least someone might 'die' from the J&J approach. But very rare, so not remotely his "eventually". And not from catching Covid from the vaccine, which was the implication.

And 100% false re MRNA based vaccines.

My wife initially favored this platform when the vaccine was in development. She believes they are all safe and effective. Likely far safer than vaccines we received…..

Yup, much, much safer...yet, much better to get vaccinated, even in the days of live virus, than not.

How we've come to this level of anti-science hysteria, in a country that has so prided itself on our innovation and science, is really strange.

And yet, here we are.

I guess the historians would say that we've always had a high capacity for believing conspiracies and myth, over science and advancement, and this may really just be a continuation of that sort of willful blindness that's long been a current waiting for the next counter-science offering. And made easier, faster, through our social media.

I'm searching for this now....someone told me today that 33% of the people that died since 01 SEPT of CV-19 in MD were vaccinated. Anyone seen any stats like this anywhere else? I want to chat with him intelligently about it .

Found it....https://www.wbaltv.com/article/covid-19 ... d/38007926#

The health department said many of those people who died also had other health conditions that made them more vulnerable.

This certainly seems like a big number with just saying they had other ailments.

So now that we have a COVID vaccine for 5 - 11 year olds, we also have republican douchebags and anti-vaxxers publicly calling to burn down the schools that require the vaccine for attendance. Nice folks.

I think they have misunderstood.

While it's been reported that there may be 30.3% of infections in Maryland in September were among people who had been vaccinated, that's not the deaths.

Still much higher deaths among those unvaccinated who get infected, as the vaccine reduces hospitalizations and deaths a lot.

https://wtop.com/coronavirus/2021/10/pe ... -maryland/

Deaths from breakthrough remain quite rare, and almost always involve a serious co-morbidity risk, obesity, suppressed immune system, etc. Which is why they're so strongly encouraging those with those issues and the elderly to get their boosters as soon as possible.

But people do get infected, confirmed with a test. Just had a couple drop out of dinner at our home last night. They'd been with someone a couple days earlier who tested positive, reached out and they did a home test yesterday which said they were positive too. No symptoms. They're going to confirm with PCR, but odds of both coming up positive on the home test mitigate against odds of false positives.

They'll quarantine.

Yes, your friend may have mis-read that sentence as "many of those people died" rather than "many of those who died had co-morbidities"'

same article: "Big picture: Hospitalizations and deaths from post-vaccination breakthrough cases are extremely rare."

picking a nit here. By using the term "many" and not "all" implies the shot killed them. And that people read and hang their hat on while digging in.

looks like 2 weeks ago md had 97.5% of seniors with at least one shot and recently upper 80's for everyone over 18. with those kind of #s, 30% of deaths doesn't sound surprising at all.

said several weeks ago a number of places were in mid-teens on deaths. washington was 16% for the 1st couple weeks of october for example.

The Maryland Department of Health released statistics that while the total number of deaths in Maryland among vaccinated people since the vaccines came out is .0065%, between Sept. 1 and Oct. 15, they accounted for 30% of COVID-19 deaths.

"That proportion can be misleading, and the reason why is that as more and more people are vaccinated in the United States, they make up a greater proportion of the deaths," Moss said.

The state department of health agrees, writing in a statement, "As the number of our residents who are vaccinated continues to increase, we expect to see an increase in the proportion of COVID-related deaths occurring in vaccinated individuals. Many of these deaths are linked to comorbidities that make patients more vulnerable."

now... ~200 out of 2,400 (8%) of all 2021 breakthru u.s. deaths in just 6 weeks... for a state with less than 2% of the population... that sounds like a problem.
