Among the states with the largest increase in their share of population-adjusted deaths during the most recent surge, Southern states made up eight of the top 10.

document there in first link, i don't know how to copy easily on phone. spells out infections, the hospitalizations they have records for (~50%), and deaths. did this for 4 or 5 states.

washington has a relatively mean-ish vaxx rate and case rate in 2021. unless anyone believes there's something crazy about covid vaxx deaths in the state of washington (20-25% of nation total?), they've simply tracked it. or do other states, and you'll come up with mid teens + to the ~26k washington shows.

plenty of articles on the dysfunction of state reporting on this to cdc. trump's cdc has always been a mess. probably change once biden gets in there.
