2022 Fantasy Lacrosse Draft

Coming from the guy with 62 points? You got outscored by two teams who were both 1-7. Guess you were blessed with a cupcake schedule. You've been in the FCA rearview mirror for a long time....check the stats.

I was missing Mike Long who would've brought my points up to somewhere between 132 and 142 points. That aside, I frequently use a rubber band strategy within this league. I crouch down really low in terms of points and wins only to spring over all the teams right before the finish line. As for your recent failures as a coach, the key to your recovery and well-being is acceptance. I'm here and happy to talk if you need help with overcoming this challenge.

Personally, I'd prefer picks 20 and 21 over picks 1 and 40. Especially if I was building a franchise. But that may just be me. Also, Lax1 who had the first pick in the Draft this season likes the "better mirroring D1 Lax" idea so that's one vote from a basement dwelling, new franchise coach. And... i think you're right Canada. This was the same discussion years ago. This is a cool idea, an idea that better mirrors D1 Lacrosse but... Is it fair to the basement dwellers? And, years later, after numerous years of data, I think the answer is, Yes because the Draft Order is not the critical path to getting out of the basement. We've done the Draft Order randomly and top to bottom and bottom to top and... The correlation between Draft Order and winning is spurious at best.

The league has an inception date. I wonder whether each team’s data is tracked back to its inception through the vsrious owners eg owner 1 > 2 > 3 etc.

Fwiw I would also have preferred 20 + 21 to 1 and 40. Honestly I think the snake draft order defeats the purpose of giving bad teams the high picks to try to let them improve. If I had 1 + 21 that would clearly help my franchise but I don’t see why 1 + 40 is helpful for me to recover. I don’t want this to be all about me, and I think my team will come around, bad luck last year (only 2 of my 4 attackmen were even playing after like the 3rd game of the season lol) but I’ve watched everybody I want go the last bunch of picks (Sean Cameron is the other guy I’ve been waiting years to draft, thought people might forget about him) and I think 20/21 would’ve been a much better set of picks. If anything, if we’re trying to create parity and avoid perpetual bottom dwelling for new coaches, I think the worst team should get the first choice of draft pick, 2nd-worst coach gets 2 choice, etc. So I could’ve chosen to have, say, 12 + 29.

Having picks 20+21 is great if you only wanna draft a couple players… however I finished top in the regular season because of a lot of seniors (and a little bit of luck) and now have a much weaker team than last year and lots of spaces to fill so the long spaces between my picks isn’t going to suit me well as I’m likely going to be filling my team with a lot of 60+ picks…

There are swings and roundabouts to every draft position… we get what we get and let’s just sucks it up.

We were #1 in rankings and 2nd in points in 2020. #1 in points last year. Looking good for this year while having been hurt by Ivies and academy players losing eligibility.

It will be interesting to see how many of them move around and the impact of poaching.

Poaching and the large number of current HS juniors who IL hasn't seen play or hasn't focused on watching while attending their games. How many of these 50 HS juniors (most of whom will turn 18 next calendar year) will be passed athletically? How many kids not on this list were getting ready for the current HS football season instead of playing at IL Tournament X or IL ID Camp Y? Btw, McCabe Millon is on a roster at the ID Camp. Does he really need to be identified?

I appreciate Matt posting this list here, but I will not be starting my draft board for the 2024 season using this list.
