Corrected. Funny thing is that it's actually a pet peeve of mine. Typing on phone with autocorrect can often lead to misspellings.

I agree with Bart that anyone thinking the game has passed by Cathy Reese is being ridiculous beyond reason. I will state this again for the hard of hearing...MARYLAND is not done. NORTHWESTERN is not done. BC has won ONE Title...Great! So has JMU...Great! Stop talking about Dynasties in Chestnut Hill. Let them run off about 2-3 more before you start that kind of talk. Haven't we seen teams that have a lot of talent ALL THE TIME, but they just cannot bring that NC home on an even semi-regular basis?Bart wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 8:29 amUmmmm…ok. Passed her by? Lol…the coaches of all the most discussed teams are Terps. UMD is the only lacrosse royalty and logically will be ascendant quickly. Good to hear the transfers are impactful. Had to figure Cathy was picky and strategic on who she chose.

It is also just a common tactic used all over the internet to stir shzit up. It just like.....just asking the question. "I've heard rumors that DMac eats cats. I personally think he loves cats but there used to be lots of cats around his house. Not saying he is eating cats but one really has to wonder where all those cats went. I'm just asking the question................"

That’s an awfully negative/skeptical spin. Why put it out there? Because I’m intrigued by it. The last 2 years have provided plenty of fodder to ask the question about Reese and the Terps. You agree that coaches can have the game pass them by, correct? There are plenty of examples from the past. And the answer to the question just may prove to be “Reese is still in her prime.” Time will tell. No need to make this anything other than what it is—a question posed. What’s your case for the affirmative?Bart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 7:46 amWhat absolute BS. The intent is there. Why put it out there? Don't be a coward...own the troll. History. Experience. The eye test. All of the above. 2019 matters. It matters alot. There is no way, absolutely no way a coach has the game "pass them by" two years after winning the national championship. That is absolute idiocy. Her teams are no less sound than in the past. Every coach will have misses on the recruiting front. It is amazing Coach Reese has done as well as she has up to this point. But to even ask that question at this time is ridiculous.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 7:57 amThat’s an awfully negative/skeptical spin. Why put it out there? Well, throw in a Vietnam tour and those cat rumors aren't so unbelievable.

Pretty sure my cousin's girlfriend's friend Lester, who lives in Bayberry, told a guy he knows that DMac does in fact eat cats. So DMac's a cat-eater and CNR has lost her edge.

I asked the question, I didn’t make the statement that the game has passed Reese by. Correct? What if I posed the question about Jenny Levy? (Which I have in the past.) We all know Larry would give the hearty amen when measuring Levy’s legacy. Why is it okay to speculate on Levy but not Reese?Bart wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 8:01 am History. Experience. The eye test. History doesn’t guarantee continuance. Nor does experience or the highly subjective “eye test”. Reese may be in the early stages of decline and she may not be. Given her team’s performance in the last 2 years, it’s reasonable to ask the question.

Re: Fall Ball
What does it look like when a coach “loses their fastball”, or the game has passed them by? If Cathy Reese’s teams in the next few years fail to get back to championship weekend, is that evidence that the game is passing her by? If not, how many years would it take for us to come to that conclusion?OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 9:42 amI asked the question, I didn’t make the statement that the game has passed Reese by. What if we asked the question about other coaches? Are the coaches in Florida, Virginia, Duke, Princeton in decline? When was the last time any of those teams made a serious run at the NCAA title?

I don’t know how serious you are, but I don’t think hearsay and conjecture are parallel to assessing a teams record for two years. A Maryland team we have all watched. A Maryland team we can look up the stats on. That’s a far cry from “I heard DMac likes to eat cats.”seacoaster wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 8:44 am Pretty sure my cousin's girlfriend's friend Lester, who lives in Bayberry, told a guy he knows that DMac does in fact eat cats. “Over the last two years, their (Maryland’s) combined record is 13-10; 6-10 vs ranked teams, 0-6 vs top 10. Very different numbers than what is typical if one compares with the two previous years before the decline. Over those 2 years (2018-19) their combined record was 42-3; 31-2 vs ranked teams, 17-2 vs top 10.”

Re: Fall Ball
More than half of the puzzle are the players in the program and then the coaching slightly less. The grad transfer environment is especially good for UMD. The reason for this is that since UMD is the only team that is royalty, offers royal legacy and is located in the epicenter of lacrosse it is the first choice for transfers primarily focused on winning. In addition, as much talent as the players in this particular sport have in high school, priorities and ability can change. Some may not have that fire to win… some transfer to follow boyfriends, some turn out not to fit in… some cause drama and problems for winning… it’s so much more efficient to transfer in proven players that want to win. The allure of royalty and the Old Bay state is the pinnacle.

Re: Fall Ball
Here's what you said: "I’m inclined to agree with you on Reese but one never knows. The game may be passing her by."
What's reasonable is that this comment might engender a response from ardent Maryland fans. Reese last won a championship in 2019, not in the dark ages or any meaningful lapse of time. In other words, she won the last championship held before BC defeated Syracuse last year. The evidence of "the game passing her by" is somewhere between infinitesimal and zero. You make a dumb comment, you should just own it instead of the shrill silliness with which you populate the Boards (e.g., "Who said the game has passed Reese by? Who said Maryland was done?").
I'm not a Maryland fan, I don't call them "royalty" or any of that stuff. But a program or any sort of organization that graduates or loses key members, employees or players is bound to have a down year or two. Talk to me if CNR doesn't get back to Memorial Day in five years.

Re: Fall Ball
Just to clarify you didn't ask a question. You made a declarative statement "The game may be passing her by." That's not a question. You then went on to say that she hasn't lost her fastball or is in the process of losing it "but she may be in the early stages." Again, this is not a question it is a declarative statement. In fact there is not single question mark in your entire post. If you have an opinion you're certainly entitled to do so but stand up for it and own it. Otherwise it just seems like you're trolling MD fans.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 9:42 amI asked the question, I didn’t make the statement that the game has passed Reese by. Correct?
