That is indeed true. The good news is that most of our MD Reps and Senators, the primary beneficiaries of same, have endorsed a national ban of gerrymandering. I don't expect Dems to unilaterally not use gerrymandering when Republicans are unwilling, because they disproportionately benefit from the tactic.
Nationally, use of gerrymandering benefits the GOP far more than it does the Democrats. It's not close. so, getting the GOP to give it up, with national legislation would require a vote in the Senate as well as House...and oh yeah, the Senate has this weird thing of rewarding smaller, less diverse, more red states with disproportionate power...and then there's the filibuster....
And then you need a President to sign it...but oh yeah, the Electoral College disproportionately benefits those same, less populated states...

But you don't.
Nationally.
Yes, my understanding is that Mass, like MD, uses gerrymandering to create safe seats for Dems and to squeeze R's to fewer seats than they might have otherwise won...but nationally this is far more used to benefit R's...they know it, and thus don't want to ban gerrymandering nationally.
But worse than the simple un-democratic aspects, which are indeed important, gerrymandering greatly exacerbates the influence of the most extreme elements in each party in our duopoly political system. If a Rep needn't be concerned with a challenge from the other side of aisle, they only need to be concerned by a challenge from their flank, they have to move that direction and away from the middle, away from moderation and cooperation.
We should all want to get rid of gerrymandering.
But one party disproportionately benefits at present.

How to be a conservative today:
You denounce mask and vaccine mandates by comparing them to the Holocaust and in the same breath say that we should teach kids that the Holocaust wasn’t so bad.
