Wait a minute, doesn't the Dr. have more than "a D" playing?

I do, but since this is D1 forum, I only mentioned that one....BTW, went to see my first D3 scrimmage on Sunday. Have to say that it was a tad bit slower than the other D's team, but we still had fun :D. Lots of traveling in Fall and Spring. At least they are only 45 minutes apart....

Yes sir, the Dr. is going to be busy, you're very lucky they're that close to one another.
Definitely a difference in D3 and D1, the level of the excitement for the players
isn't any different though....game day is a big deal regardless of division. Enjoy.
Oh, you might want to answer some of those extended warranty calls too. ;)

And if she wasn't the best in her previous conference, how in the hell will she suddenly blossom at the new program?"

- I have to say this one really rubs me the wrong way as it should everyone on this forum. First of all, I wouldn't say you "know' her because you gave her 3 lessons 5 years ago. That's a complete stretch. Maybe the fact that we moved on to another trainer after that 3rd lesson is the reason for your snide comments? As far as "how in the hell will suddenly blossom at the new program", that remains to be seen. But why in the world do you need to come on to a forum and suggest she won't? You want to give an opinion, fine, but knocking a 20 year old young woman when you DON'T even know her??? Come on Larry, I thought you were better than that!
I agree with every word of your post, but especially this part. And, posters need to keep this in mind when certain posters like to pretend that they "know" what is going on and the reality is that they are clueless.

Hey @inthe8m...I'm not better than that. However, I actually know what the hell I'm talking about. You don't have to like it at all. Still doesn't change what I know...or don't know?

Admin,
I know EXACTLY what I wrote in my original post and it's not subject to interpretation. Reading comprehension is a wonderful thing and it helps the reader understand what the author of the post ACTUALLY said.

I don't mind other posters being upset, but I have no interest in responding to lies. If you're going to warn me about clever language, then warn THEM about lying to make points and look tough. I will not be nice about it.
Thanks for your time.

Who lied? As it appears in the thread, the only person who misconstrued the truth was you when you claimed to know the player, her reasons for the transfer, and her recruiting process. Again, this is just uncalled for. We don't need this in the thread.

I Couldn’t agree more, I honestly wouldn’t have cared if the situation was brought up with a little more class but in my opinion (just my opinion-not saying I’m100% right or wrong) it was brought up with personal feelings behind it so I decided to say something. I don’t want this to devolve into a war of words because I know somebody always has to have the last word and it will go on forever. I’ll end my discussion on the matter with this, and it goes for the transfer portal subject as well. Don’t put your opinion out on this forum - especially an opinion not backed up by facts and then try to stonewall the ensuing conversation by taking it to PM’s in order to avoid the scrutiny of the rest of the members of the forum. I appreciated the apology, the rest of it not so much but I’ll leave it at that - it’s all good.

Btw, I know several members follow Twitter and IG accounts for the different teams and when this now overhyped transfer :D is officially announced, I completely understand my daughter will be judged - and that is completely fair. As with any player, let’s just keep it to the facts and respectful opinions. From there we can have a civil conversation.

Again, I have read and perused these boards for a long time and most of the time found them to be very informative - especially during the fall ball and spring seasons. I appreciate all the contributions to the wlax game!

Respectfully, the series of exchanges here is exactly why I try -- I suppose sometimes in vain -- to avoid direct criticism of players and their skills. These are not professional athletes, and many of them are simply college kids playing a relatively obscure sport with a little financial assistance from the school. Where they end up wanting to take their degree is not really my business. I try, then, to focus on the team play, and am willing to criticize the professionals -- the coaches, the officials -- who willingly place themselves as targets of public interest and criticism. The players might look every bit the part of serious athletes dedicated to this craft. And they are, for the most part. But they are also kids with Moms and Dads and sisters and brothers and boyfriends and girlfriends, with stresses we can only imagine, interests we don't know or understand, and aspirations beyond the confines of this forum. My irrelevant two cents.

I have no problem with a player transferring with hopes and dreams of sipping from the golden chalice of winning a national championship.

There’s a great scene in the movie Hoosiers where Barbara Hershey‘s character is trying to paint athletes who cling to their glory days as sad. The coach, played by Gene Hackman, correctly asserts that most people would love to experience that glory.

As far as critiquing a players performance on the field, I have no problem with that. It’s absurdly silly to be able to critique all other sporting events where males participate but there’s an invisible governor on us when we try to do the same with female participants.

Completely agree. But we all need to stick to critiquing players based on actual facts, not emotions and/or sour professional relationships. Let's keep this clean and objective fellas (and ladies) so we can have ACTUAL conversations, not this back and forth crap. Have to say this thread was more of a headache than it was productive and we're ALL better than that.

+1
Very well put. The downsides of personal criticism of a young female athlete in a sport we are trying to grow are too numerous to list. The upside is...umm. It is the duty of middle-aged men to show these young athletes the tough love they deserve? The coaches aren't doing a good enough job of telling players where they are lacking, so they need our help? If Fanlax posters treat them as fragile Kewpie dolls, then they are destined to become just that? The First Amendment is in peril if posters from New Jersey aren't allowed to EXPRESS THEIR VIEWS IN ALL CAPS? The risk/reward equation is way out of whack on this issue.

As I have written many times on this forum, I will gladly accept the criticism of erring on the side of showing respect and deference to these young women. That is a much more comfortable place for me than launching personal attacks on college women navigating a very complex world.

Put another way, if your daughter comes home from school and asks: "What did you do today, Dad?" which response would she be happier to hear:
A. I defended some girls about your age from online bullies; or
B. I ripped into a girl I don't really know in an online chat.

If my answer were B., I would be lucky if my daughter spoke to me again in the next 30 days.
