And you feel this was a political decision, rather than a business decision, right?

I think you might be forgetting that they can sell IVM outside of the US until (wait for it) the cows come home.....

Fortunately, for reporting purposes, "Covid" can still be listed as the primary cause of death.

Re Merck, it is a business decision. The politics against IVM Covid usage is external.

Not sure what you're getting at with your last sentence? IVM is dirt cheap (pun intended). Merck probably profited as much today, just in the market, than forty years of international IVM anti-parasite sales.

I shouldn’t have said “approved” drugs (plural).

Yes. But only in America. That's what I was trying to share.

You've been expressing frustration that IVM has been "politicized" for months. I was simply saying-----that politicization is only happening in the US.

This is how US pharma behaves: cheap stuff goes overseas. High price, high margin stuff stays here. My point, I guess, is that politics isn't forcing Merck's hand. This is how they operate, regardless of poltics.

Makes perfect sense to me that they're chasing new therapeutics domestically. And they'll jack up the price, just like we like it.

As far as I can tell... agreed.

I would not say the same for NIH, CDC, US med establishment in general, pushing for total vaccination of populace, led by Bidin admin of course.

Ivermectin is not the same as the new Merck drug for COVID. Chemically the two aren't even close.

So the latest claim from the nut fringe is that the new Pfizer drug for COVID (same market as Merck's) is Ivermectin.

Guarantee you that once the new Merck drug has EUA, the Ivermectin nuts will still be pushing Ivermectin as better and cheaper. Their argument is always, "bad drug company, you are making money". Of course the customers for Ivermectin never consider that the clowns pushing Ivermectin for COVID are doing it to make money. The last thing the folks pushing hardest for Ivermectin want is for a big drug company to come out and get FDA market clearance for use against COVID. They would if they could, but they can't, because they can't prove efficacy. Ivermectin is off patent, has been for 25 years, anyone could do it. So if it is so effective, so damn good, why is no one doing it??

As for Merck's market for the new drug, they consider non-US poor countries to be their opportunity. These countries aren't being very successful in rolling out vaccinations. It will be a few years before these countries are significantly let alone fully vaccinated. The US market is not their primary opportunity.

Anyone heard from the fearporn media on this? Oh wait.....MSLSD compares the US to Lockdown Australia  .....I suppose Chris Hayes is showing their hand at what they really and truly want.

Not much has changed down there either with regard to rules, schools, etc.....so what changed? I just returned from Florida...it's business as usual.

Slowly ticking upwards. Especially as their accounts have been threatened from customers requiring only vaccinated personal on their premises.

Crazy times. I also heard some hospital is requiring spouses of the hospital employees need to be vaccinated or be subject to a monthly fee.

That might come. CT dropped mask mandate today…. Guy that runs a customer facing business can’t believe it. You don’t know who is going to walk through the door. Oh well.
