Promising start by Brown and the staff—locking up top guys at both goalie and FO.

From Ty Xanders:
4 ⭐️ junior Henry Brayer '23, F/O, Torrey Pines (Calif.) / @WestCoastStarz has committed to @BrownLacrosse. Possessing quick hands and a high upside, Brayer won 87% this spring, helped the Falcons to a three-peat and was named an All-American:

Curious to see how the new (and retitled) AD affects the program, as Hayes was certainly a lax guy. She's an alumna, so I assume she understands the team's historical importance.🤞🏻

Scholarship established in honor of Cliff Stevenson
Men's Soccer
Posted: 9/16/2021 2:30:00 PM
The Brown Soccer and Lacrosse programs are proud to announce the establishment of a financial aid scholarship endowment in honor of legendary men's soccer and lacrosse coach Clifford "Cliff" Stevenson, who passed away in February 2021 at the age of 92. Named as Brown's first full-time men's soccer coach in 1960, Stevenson coached the team for 31 seasons and the lacrosse team for 22 years. During his long tenure, he elevated both sports to national prominence.

Scores of former players contributed to the success of the scholarship initiative, which has raised over $500,000 with lead gifts from the family of Tom Draper '64, P'93, P'22 and Hilde and Dave Chichester '67. The Leadership Team was led by Chichester (men's soccer), co-president of the Sports Foundation Board of Directors; board members Richard Meister '75 (men's lacrosse) and Christopher Girgenti '85 (men's lacrosse and men's soccer); Mike Healy '64 (men's lacrosse and men's soccer); Greg Elliott '69 (men's lacrosse and men's soccer); Bill Meckel '66 (men's lacrosse); and Ed Roskiewicz, associate director of the Sports Foundation.

"It is an honor and a privilege to carry on Coach Stevenson's incredible legacy at Brown through the creation of the Cliff Stevenson Scholarship," said Chichester. "His on-the-field accomplishments at Brown are incredible, but the impact he made on the University community, on the state of Rhode Island, and across New England are his greatest achievements. Coach was truly a great man, and everyone involved in this initiative is excited for the generations of Bears who will be awarded this prestigious scholarship."

The financial aid scholarship will have a preference to be awarded to scholar-athletes of the men's and women's soccer and lacrosse programs. These individuals will continue Stevenson's legacy of excellence on the field which bears his name.

With football season back fully now I wanted to link this as remembrance of a friend who played lacrosse at Brown back in the day, got CTE bad and died tragically. He was a great brown contributor and good dude. Mike Alberelli-let’s hope knowledge of this ensures it doesn’t broken going forward.

Realize I could drop this a few places but as a Brown grad I thought there may be some that knew him and would appreciate the nod to him. Had a chat about MIke last night regarding head shots in a FB game which is what had me thinking of him.

Another pickup for Brown, midfielder Quinn Cepiel from New Hampshire.
Don't know what Sirius Lacrosse is, but they have him as the #12 player in the class.....

I'm curious if anyone has any color on how Fall Ball is going and how the new crop of recruits are settling in with the team? Full disclosure I know a couple of the Frosh whom I have high hopes for and I really believe the future is bright for Brown lacrosse.

Thanks!

He passed a while back now but it was more just watching some head shots, thinking about the half dozen or so "bell ringing" I had in college playing football and that guys who played lacrossed have risk with respect to this as well. He was a great guy, some people started to pull away at the end which is tragic now that we know he flat out had CTE. Maybe he got it in HS playign at Delbarton rather than lacrosse at Brown but I do recall him having a shoulder injury and telling me about a bad concussion during IVY play.

I don't know how to teach a kid to run through the play, so to speak, and I have two young ones, but we all owe this to younger people to figure it out.

CTE is real and thankfully we are putting time, effort and resources into hopefully making the game safer for the younger generations. Sad stuff, sorry for your loss. It's unfortunate that people began to pull away towards the end but I would imagine that's the CTE winning the battle at that point.

It's hard when one doesn't understand and have proper context but you see someone angry and cynical (which also comes with depression). Lot of people lack empathy or dont have enough. I just want people to see it's hitting everyone across the athletics spectrum, and apparently Howard Hughes from flight crashes as well.

A cousin committed suicide because of CTE. Behavior became bizarre leading up to it.

Great 4* pick up of Jackson Wolfram (Brunswick). Can play attack at X or run through the box. And, rides like a madman.

Scrimmage game at Bryant with Bryant and Providence this Saturday: any thoughts or comments? Any word on Fall Ball? Just looking for some Brown discussion.

Nothing too exciting to contribute, but it looks like a core group of last years "Seniors" will be playing in 2022, so Brown should be in the conversation for tops in the Ivy.

Biggest question for the Fall seems to be who will start in goal among Fiore/Theriault/Demopoulos.

Great depth for Brown at midfield and defense, have to wonder if Aughavin or Grell step down to attack this year to keep them on the field as much as possible. Don't know enough about any of the 1st or 2nd year guys to guess if they could contribute in the 3rd attack spot.

On D have two 3-year-starters + Enchill @ LSM , and a crew of capable poles who can play. Think this should be a real strength for Brown, which is nice for Phil Goss's replacement.

Recruiting seems to be fantastic this year. Lots of younger siblings choosing to follow brothers to Brown, which is an indication that Daly is running the program well IMO.
