Weather impacts for Saturday, March 2

Post by Hawkeye »

I see that the mid-Atlantic and New England are expected to get a good deal of snow today and overnight into Saturday. If you know of a game that is impacted by weather, please post the changes here. This was we will have all the changes in one place instead of scattered throughout many threads.

Thanks!

The Syracuse-Virginia game in the Dome is still on as scheduled. Predicted conditions for both the men's (noon) and women's (1600 hrs) games is perfect with 0 mph winds.
If you boys haven't checked a girl's game out in the last couple of years I highly recommend you tune into one (Cuse-Va game is on the ACC Network), it's come a looooong way, baby.

A dusting of snow this morning in the NYC area... for New Haven, CT, more snow predicted for 9 - 11 a.m. tomorrow Saturday, with the Sat. high not expected to get much above 40, if at all. That being said, given the stoic New England schools involved, I imagine that the Yale-UMass game will be played on schedule.

Yale has a new heated field. The snow should not accumulate.

The Syracuse dome game is still on? What about if the snow is so heavy that cars might get snowed into the parking lots?

Separately, does snow melt lacrosse sticks? Can players see the lacrosse balls in the snow? Do the referees switch to orange balls from white balls?

If the muck at Chapel Hill last Saturday didn't dissolve sticks I doubt snow will.

Any weather impact on the play by play and post game?

The only concern about whether, as far as broadcasting goes, is whether or not the little Aussie gal will be calling the girl's game and doing the post game interviews. She didn't do the last one, maybe she was a little downunda the weather. Here's hopin' she's recovered and on the call for this one.

Was she also doing halftime commentary in a studio setting for SU or the ACC network? 8-)

The Cuse transition goal agains Northwestern (to tie it up in regulation) was as good as any I've seen—mens or women's.
