States ranked by COVID-19 death rates: Aug. 30
Mackenzie Bean

As of Aug. 30, more than 637,000 people in the U.S. had died after contracting COVID-19, according to The New York Times.

The Times used data from reports of coronavirus cases and deaths by U.S. states and counties. The database includes cases and deaths that have been identified by public health officials as probable coronavirus patients, which means they did not have confirmed tests for coronavirus infection but were evaluated using criteria developed by national and local governments. Read more about the data here.

Here is a breakdown of average daily COVID-19 deaths and COVID-19 deaths per 100,000 people over the last seven days in all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. The data was last updated Aug. 30.

well, the question may be rhetorical, but clearly the point is that if you're unvaccinated you have a much, much, much higher risk of adverse outcome than if vaccinated. Sure, other factors may further increase risk, but we know that people who have seemed perfectly healthy, not known other factors, nevertheless can get seriously sick and some do die. If unvaccinated. We're not seeing that with those who are vaccinated.

Not really a surprise, 'cause that's how vaccines work...not perfect, but way, way better than not being vaccinated.

Not sure what your point might be of the original question, nor this "rhetorical" one.

Get your choice of vaccine today, get two tickets to the Carnegie Museum tomorrow. Damn, I would have driven to Pittsburgh for that offer.

Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh is proud to partner with the University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy to encourage all eligible persons to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

This is going to be interesting. Already downplaying it I see, You must work for CNN. ;)

I can only imagine the placebo would not apply, considering the meds would provide an outcome in the body, unlike other therapeutics that have been administered.

Ivermectin: a systematic review from antiviral effects to COVID-19 complementary regimen

In this comprehensive systematic review, antiviral effects of ivermectin are summarized including in vitro and in vivo studies over the past 50 years. Several studies reported antiviral effects of ivermectin on RNA viruses such as Zika, dengue, yellow fever, West Nile, Hendra, Newcastle, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, chikungunya, Semliki Forest, Sindbis, Avian influenza A, Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome, Human immunodeficiency virus type 1, and severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2

If you are promoting ivermectin for “treating” COVID-19, you should be suspended or banned from this forum.

From the FDA:

There seems to be a growing interest in a drug called ivermectin to treat humans with COVID-19. Ivermectin is often used in the U.S. to treat or prevent parasites in animals. The FDA has received multiple reports of patients who have required medical support and been hospitalized after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses.

Here’s What You Need to Know about Ivermectin
FDA has not approved ivermectin for use in treating or preventing COVID-19 in humans. Ivermectin tablets are approved at very specific doses for some parasitic worms, and there are topical (on the skin) formulations for head lice and skin conditions like rosacea. Ivermectin is not an anti-viral (a drug for treating viruses).
Taking large doses of this drug is dangerous and can cause serious harm.
If you have a prescription for ivermectin for an FDA-approved use, get it from a legitimate source and take it exactly as prescribed.
Never use medications intended for animals on yourself. Ivermectin preparations for animals are very different from those approved for humans.

Anti-Vaxxers, Anti-Maskers, and Ivermectin Nuts are Killing People

Post by DocBarrister »

Sadly, ignorance and stupidity kills.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/30/politics ... index.html

Bernier, in fact, was the third conservative talk radio host who opined against masks and expressed skepticism about the vaccine to die from Covid-19 in recent weeks. Earlier this month Dick Farrel, a Florida-based talk radio host, passed away from the coronavirus. Just last week, Nashville-based host Phil Valentine, 65, died from the virus.

These deaths didn't have to happen. The three Covid-19 vaccines have each proven incredibly effective at lessening -- and almost eliminating -- hospitalizations and deaths of people who get the virus. The vaccines have been readily available for months, with many states and localities offering incentives -- financial and otherwise -- for those willing to get the shots.

Masking, in study after study after study, has proven to be -- along with social distancing -- our single best tool to prevent the rapid spread of the virus, up to and including the highly contagious Delta variant.

… The story of Wallace, who leaves behind a wife and three children with a fourth on the way in a month or so -- is particularly devastating. As the San Angelo (Texas) Standard-Times wrote of Wallace:

"'Caleb instead began taking tablets of ivermectin (an anti-parasitic medicine the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has since urged people not to take for COVID-19), high doses of Vitamin C, zinc aspirin, and an inhaler. By July 30, however, Caleb was taken by a relative to the emergency room at Shannon Medical Center.'"

That is a crushing loss. As are the deaths of Bernier, Farrel and Valentine. That they spread their anti-science views on masking and vaccinations only to die from the very virus they scoffed at makes their lives (and deaths) a tragedy of significant proportions.

Their ignorance and stupidity put them in their graves, and may also have killed some of their listeners.

Consider this a service message for some of the folks on this forum.
