Started out really great. I was really enjoying Sam Rockwell's character. He had some primo lines. Even "Hiya, Kaya!" cracked me up. But I couldn't take the gratuitous violence after a while. Just got to be too much. I think I made it through about 20 minutes before I bailed.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 4:29 amHmmm--looks like a great cast. I'll have to check it out. I’d encourage you to give it another shot. If anything it’s too on the nose in making fun of Hollywood including the violence which becomes more evident as it goes on. McDonough is a rare talent. Rockwell is terrific. There’s a scene that Walken is relaying to Farrell at the end that gets me every time.OuttaNowhereWregget wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 5:18 pmStarted out really great. Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

Funny buy kinda dated.
Back in the old days we often talked of Laurel & Hardy both of whom were parodied much on tv & movies. Sadly this is not true anymore as they are largely forgotten. I'm sure, however, that eventually they will become popular again.

No another one to look up. Watched another Irish movie on showtime late last night called Pixie which was pretty solid and made me think of Butchers Boy.Typical Lax Dad wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 4:30 pmDid you see Layer Cake?Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Tue Aug 24, 2021 12:54 pm Great movie I haven’t seen in forever but am going to watch tonight if I can find it on any of my monthly streaming expensive services.

24 Hours to LIve : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5442456/
Not bad not great, entertaining and solid plot with some twists.

Finally watched Marnie. Excellent. One of my favorite Hitchcock films. Need to let it simmer and I will watch it again.

Always enjoyed their full length movies but their film shorts were actually more entertaining. Very often their character foil Jim Finlayson got some of the funniest lines and sequences. All this and the great background music by LeRoy Shields. Just so timeless.

One of my all-time favorite Laurel and Hardy shorts. I especially enjoy the scene where Hardy is listening to the radio and in a pique of irritation turns it off at the aggravating “Mr. Laurel says.“ The name Finlayson was given in the film was certainly a tongue in cheek smirk past the censors.Brooklyn wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 12:18 pm

Loved every minute of it, esp the famous dance sequence:
Very possibly their greatest segment. Incredibly entertaining.
Naturally, I cannot watch a movie without some type of sumptuous repast ~ tonight it was spicy chicken wings and apple juice.

Yeah, for a first name. As for a surname, the name Prickle or Tickler may say it best but, as you wrote, you have to first get past the Hollywood code people.
