Isabelle "Izzy" Scane
Northwestern Wildcats freshman Izzy Scane is a dynamic player. She's not afraid to seize the moment when it presents itself, as you'll see in this highlight of her scoring her 1st goal just 12 seconds into the first game of the new season. She has already been adopted by her teammates as you'll see the shove of acceptance/admiration from NU star Selena Lasota. Looking forward to watching her over the next 4 years, provided all goes well. She has the boldness and skills to maybe become one of the games stars.

Bright New Stars of the 2019 Season
Re: Bright New Stars of the 2019 Season
I first saw Scane several years ago at the Under Armor tournament in Maryland. Saw her the following year (and maybe the year after that) at the same tournament. Met her once briefly. Seemed like a real nice kid.
Back then she obviously had oodles of raw talent, but was (understandably) a bit behind in her lacrosse development compared to girls of the same age from the hot beds. When I heard she had committed to Northwestern, I wondered how she would make the adjustment from her non-hot bed Midwestern high school to big-time college lacrosse. Very happy to see she has adjusted very well and very quickly.

Yeah--she just seems to have a sixth sense about her. She plays with a lot of poise and confidence for a freshman. Certainly not bowing and deferring to Lasota and the other veterans on the team and playing it safe. You can tell they love her already.
Here's another demonstration of her scoring ability and fearlessness against Syracuse a few games later.

Megan Carney, for the Godfather's team in Syracuse is a feisty, confident, determined, hard nosed, and very talented freshman. I want her on my team. If "bright new stars" means freshman, she gets my vote as one.
Bet she can do some Irish dancing too.

Yes, I’ve seen her. She scored a big goal late against Northwestern. Her stats are impressive through 6 games. 12 goals 15 points.
Re: Bright New Stars of the 2019 Season
Both Carney and Scane are on the US U-19 training team. Currently, the team has 23 members. There will be one more cut before the final 18 member roster is set for this summer’s U-19 tournament (which was won by the Canadians in 2015
).
Bright New Stars of 2019 - Meaghan Tyrrell
The more I watch Syracuse's first year player Meaghan Tyrrell, the more I am impressed. Check out this brave goal against powerhouse Maryland. Not afraid to go in amongst the face-high sticks into the teeth of the Maryland defense and score a big goal against the Terps. And another goal where she shows her skill in cutting to score and pull the Orange to within one. She's a tough, talented player for Gary Gait's team. It will be interesting to see what kind of further impact she has as the season wears on.

Abbey Ngai - BC Sophomore Goaltender
Since taking the starting position from senior Lauren Daly, Abbey has been impressive.

Detwiler is the kid who absolutely frustrated and shut down Avery Shoemaker of UVA for a half, until Adams and Company decided that the faceguard wasn't necessary -- after which Shoemaker scored three times in the second half during the Hoos' surge to victory.

Seriously, she is a talent and Loyola is very lucky to have her...combined with Yanchoris and converted middies Ehrhardt and Korvin...they have a pretty good back end.

Yeah, that Ehrhardt is tough as nails.

4 goals 5 assists for Carney today vs Virginia Tech. Very impressive numbers against a ranked conference rival.

Detwiler is absolutely the real deal. Also comes from the same club and high school program as legendary former Greyhound & defender Maddy Lesher (3x Patriot League DOY, 3x All American, etc. etc.)!Dr. Tact wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 11:06 amDont remind meseacoaster wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 10:25 am Detwiler is the kid who absolutely frustrated and shut down Avery Shoemaker of UVA for a half, until Adams and Company decided that the faceguard wasn't necessary -- after which Shoemaker scored three times in the second half during the Hoos' surge to victory.![]()

More from Northwestern's Izzy Scane
Another beauty from Northwestern's Izzy Scane. She can make something from nothing. She can break through a double team and score. That's a very valuable skill. Not many seniors can do this, and she does it as a 1st year player. Amazing poise. I'll be disappointed if she isn't Big 10 rookie of the year, or rookie of the year for division 1 for that matter, if such awards exist.
