I agree with ffg that Sowell might be a success at Utah if he can recruit P5 caliber athletes & let 'em play, especially if he could get a few W Canadian experienced box players, like he inherited at SB.

Re: Utah
Sowell is not getting the Utah job lol why are we on like the 3rd page of discussing him?
Rumor is Utah wants Kirwan or Benson. Don't know their interest levels. If they both pass then they could look harder at Sheridan/Thompson/Seremet.

sowell was hired in 2006. seeing as how crowley went to simon fraser in 06-07 was that the plan prior? maybe it was, you tell me / link? couldn't get in to stony?old salt wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 10:26 amDid he recruit them or were they already headed that way because of their connection to Rhys Duch ?wgdsr wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 7:51 amsowell would do much better if he got the type of w canadians that he signed at sb, like mcbride and crowley. not the ones he inherited. those guys were program changersold salt wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 4:32 am Can Utah match these rates ?

supposedly mcbride told "sbu coaches" about crowley. not sure when, do you have that? when did mcbride commit before signing in late '06?

I'd like to see what Benson can do at Maryland with more time in role, so maybe I'm biased, but I also know the distance from his family in Atlanta to College Park was somewhat of an issue for him. Atlanta isn't close, but it's a short flight away (or a 10 hour drive). Utah is a whole different galaxy.HopFan16 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 12:33 pmStarted with him yeah but I've asked around and word is those two are at the top of Utah's list. Don't know more than that. They may have zero real interest—but based on Jast's tweet they are at least interviewing.

Now I love those cowboys, I love their gold
Love my uncle, God rest his soul
Taught me good, Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed that gold
I left his dead ass there by the side of the road, yeah

It’s a bit more than 10hrs from DC to Atlanta I’ve fine it too many times unfortunately. Choices are deal w 1/95 to Petersburg to 85 and that’s always a disaster the first 50-75mi or head west out 66 to 81 to 77 to 85.m but that’s inefficient. Usually closer to 12-13hrs w drive through and Olympic competition level bathroom and gas breaks. Thats based on probably 30 TripsPulpExposure wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 1:53 pmI'd like to see what Benson can do at Maryland with more time in role, so maybe I'm biased, but I also know the distance from his family in Atlanta to College Park was somewhat of an issue for him. Sure...but the point is whether its 10 or 12, it's driveable in a day if you need to get there in an emergency. I'm driving to Hilton Head tomorrow morning from New Jersey, which is about a 12 hour drive. Utah is not driveable in a day.Farfromgeneva wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 3:24 pm

Holman was getting $180k, all in. That goes a long way in SLC...
The new coach will be getting far less, is that right?
