Christopher Newport University
Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
Beginning of the 4th Qtr against Lynchburg. CNU’s offense has no momentum at all. To many stupid TO. Can’t win a FO at all. Losing 8-2.

Your goalie played lights out.
LYN played better than last week but still not their best.
May see you again. Good luck v. Salisbury

CNU looking great against Stevenson to move on in the tourney. Defense was terrific all game. Congratulations to the Captains.

Awesome win against Lynchburg who came out of the gate strong but let the Captains back into it. Final Four. Congrats to the coaching staff, who are developing a good program.
Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
#1 priority is finding 2 FoGo’s this summer. Every Alumni should be on the lookout to find one. The rest of the team is ok. Losing three studs on D, Max Wayne, Phoenix Hines and Aiden Fitzgerald. Let’s have a good recruiting season.

Any guys coming back for a 5th year?
Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
I think the semi-final was more a matchup of freshman (CNU-Sands, 51% on season) vs senior (Sal-Malamphy, 76% on season). Big contribution from Sands to get them to that game.

Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
I’ve heard most of the seniors that played are planning on coming back, only losing the one 5th year transfer from Richmond. CNU should be strong again next year.

CNU has grad programs also, that’s another game that will tilt against W&L along with Lynchburg. These games are usually close but with the addition of 5th year players I don’t see W&L being as competitive. Denison and Gettysburg don’t have grad programs either I think. The D3 schools that don’t had better work hard to get transfers from the D1 portal

Also helps that CNU is a state school and very affordable for VA high school players. Brendes, Wayne, Rice, R. Young, Collins, Hines, Sands, Fitzgerald, Mcminn, Stockhausen, B. Young, Cornwell, Adams, Deal, Miller, Widhelm, Wheeler and a few others are very valuable contributors and all are from VA. They have killed it recruiting VA high talent from NOVA and the Richmond area.
Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
I was at a club tournament this past weekend and heard some exciting news about the Captains. Here are some of the names I am hearing that are coming back.
- Dylan Rice: 3x All-American, Leading point scorer in program history.
- Max Wayne: 3x All-American and 4x All-Conference selection.
- Jackson Deal: 50 G's and 60 A's in his four years.
- Will Stockhausen: 75 G's and 48 A's in his four years.
- Phoenix Hines: 2x All-American and arguably one of the most underrated LSM's in the country.
- Miles Collins: One of the best transition D-Mids in the country.(21 G's and 14 A's in four years)
- Griffin Hanes: Experienced Middie who has played all over the place.
Apparently they return a few more 5th years while also bringing in a BIG time transfer and a few freshman studs. A large and well-experienced senior class combined with a bunch of talented young guys will prove to be a dangerous combo this upcoming year. They will still have to slay the giant which is Salisbury, but if the Captains are looking to win it all... this year is as good as any.
Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
Heck of alot of talent returning here. Curious who the big time transfer is.

Salisbury has only two in portal, both Jersey guys. No obvious choices such as in state or high school that’s a “big” name. Both names in portal are “big”.
Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
Did some asking around and apparently it is former Atlee graduate and current University of Richmond lacrosse player Andrew Cook. He's the brother of recent 5th year Jack Cook. Anyone who has seen this guy play knows that he is a major addition to the Captains midfield.(Maybe even Attack?)

Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
Is a guy that was a career reserve and scored 2 goals in four years really “Big Time” transfer? I gets it’s from D1, but a back up from a middle tier D1 team shouldn’t be that dramatic of a needle pusher for a D3 team that has legitimate national championship aspirations.Laxguy703 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:35 pmDid some asking around and apparently it is former Atlee graduate and current University of Richmond lacrosse player Andrew Cook. Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
Looks like he did two seasons at Richmond, so he'll have up to three at CNU. Yes, just two goals, but looks like he played in their competitive early season games vs Loyola, UNC, and Towson (vs putting up 'empty' stats in the VMI and Bellarmine routs). But DNPs for the end of season Air Force and High Point games, so who knows.InsiderRoll wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 5:49 pmIs a guy that was a career reserve and scored 2 goals in four years really “Big Time” transfer? 6'2" 200# is a big middie esp at D3 and he's a kid CNU would have been very happy to get out of HS. Seems like he'll add good depth, but not a piece that would worry Salisbury at this point. Will be interesting to see how the spring plays out.

I would agree it’s a helpful addition and a guy that would have been considered a great D3 recruit coming out of HS. He just still needs to prove that he can be an impactful guy at the college level. CNU is certainly gearing up to make a good run in 2022, their growth has been fun to watch.JustPassingThrough wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 7:05 pmLooks like he did two seasons at Richmond, so he'll have up to three at CNU. Re: Christopher Newport University 2021
This kid Andrew Cook after 2 yrs of competitive D1 lacrosse will be a significant addition to CNU’s program. He’ll jump off the page on a D3 field with his size and experience having competed at the D1 level for 2 years. All the D3 programs w 5th year recruits will dominate the D3 landscape until 5th year eligibility expires. Wish W&L got this kidInsiderRoll wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 9:46 pmI would agree it’s a helpful addition and a guy that would have been considered a great D3 recruit coming out of HS.
