russell- id use "fecesbook" but dont want to steal your thunder. For years, Facebook gave some of the world’s largest technology companies more intrusive access to users’ personal data than it has disclosed, effectively exempting those business partners from its usual privacy rules, according to internal records and interviews.
The social network allowed Microsoft’s Bing search engine to see the names of virtually all Facebook users’ friends without consent, the records show, and gave Netflix and Spotify the ability to read Facebook users’ private messages.
Facebook has been reeling from a series of privacy scandals, set off by revelations in March that a political consulting firm, Cambridge Analytica, improperly used Facebook data to build tools that aided President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. Acknowledging that it had breached users’ trust, Facebook insisted that it had instituted stricter privacy protections long ago. Mark Zuckerberg, the chief executive, assured lawmakers in April that people “have complete control” over everything they share on Facebook.

Don't forget Google, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other big tech companies have been silencing and censoring conservative voices. For instance if you type in "Clinton Email" on Google, it doesn't autocorrect to Clinton Email Scandal, which it should. Twitter has kicked off numerous leading conservative voices including leading Jewish investigative reporter Laura Loomer, but has blue verified checks for Hamas, the PLO, The Muslim Brotherhood, ISIS etc. Twitter undoubtedly is Anti-Semitic and promotes such positions on its platforms. Twitter never suspended numerous liberal losers like Kathy Griffith for severing the head of our sitting President all while threatening him and other conservatives on their interface. Just yesterday a NYS Senator tweeted "Go Kill Yourself" towards a Republican staffer. The tweet was deleted but went viral. Twitter did nothing about it. If a Republican state senator had said that, Twitter would have suspended him, he would be forced to resign and there would be riots in the streets. These are just a few of thousands of examples of big tech hatred and censorship of conservatives that happens daily.

You are talking NYS Bandito. The ruling Democrats certainly wish all republicans would just go kill themselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rujm1w-1qzM Bob Lonsberry poses the 64000 dollar question... what is the difference between republican moral bankruptcy and democrat moral superiority. Interesting fact for me about Joe Morrelle, my wife went to HS with him. Joe is a great guy if you have the chance to talk to him one on one. Joe doesn't believe that all republicans are morally bankrupt. Once you find yourself elevated to the national level of politics... then you will even insult and degrade those morally bankrupt republicans that have supported you.

here's the CEO a year ago:
The world feels anxious and divided, and Facebook has a lot of work to do — whether it's protecting our community from abuse and hate, defending against interference by nation states, or making sure that time spent on Facebook is time well spent.
My personal challenge for 2018 is to focus on fixing these important issues.

Apple pulled Facebook's IOS development license because they were distributing it (outside of license terms) to spy on customers who belonged to a special pilot project they were running. Not generally an Apple fan, but they deserve kudos for this action. Apparently they are getting ready to do the same thing to Google.

delusional. unless of course by innovation he means spraying your data everywhere!

also delusional. this dirtbag steals information and gets rich off of it. and says that harvard students can have confidence in their data!"But going back to the very first thing that we did, making it so Harvard students could communicate in a way that they had some confidence that their content and information would be shared with only people within that community, there was no way that people had to communicate stuff at that scale but not have it either be just completely public or just as small as it had been before."

Facebook's new data-for-cash debacle
https://www.axios.com/facebooks-new-dat ... 97f3b.html
https://www.axios.com/facebooks-new-dat ... 97f3b.html
TechCrunch reported late Tuesday that Facebook had paid users, some of them teenagers, $20 a month to install software on their iPhones giving Facebook detailed access to everything taking place on the device.
"Despite early reports, there was nothing 'secret' about this; it was literally called the Facebook Research App. It wasn't 'spying' as all of the people who signed up to participate went through a clear on-boarding process asking for their permission and were paid to participate. Finally, less than 5 percent of the people who chose to participate in this market research program were teens. All of them with signed parental consent forms."

Why Facebook is playing with fire
https://www.axios.com/facebook-apple-ap ... f522d.html
https://www.axios.com/facebook-apple-ap ... f522d.html
Driving the news: Facebook took a program designed to let businesses internally test their own app and used it to monitor most, if not everything, a user did on their phone — a degree of surveillance barred in the official App Store.
Lest there be any ambiguity on that last point, it was just last August that Facebook was forced to pull a similar app after Apple said it violated rules on data collection.
The big question: It's unclear just what Facebook was thinking — it won't say whether it thought that it was somehow complying with Apple's rules.

What Apple, Facebook and Google each mean by "privacy"
For Apple, privacy is primarily about keeping your personal data between you and your device.
For Facebook, privacy chiefly means limiting who can see what you post or send.
Google is now emphasizing privacy as an option that you can invoke.
