I agree the risk-benefit analysis favors getting vaccinated, at same time, citing anything the CDC is saying re Covid needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
I was not crystal clear in my original comment. My point was how the 'young adults' view the vaccine. They already believe they are invincible, they do not read data like we do, they do not watch news, the get all their info from the social media they chose to follow. I talked many in to getting vaccinated.

I have made this comment many times over.....why do we see so many minorities, primarily the black community, not get vaccinated?
Right. I'm curious what my daughter's school policy will be come Sept. My guess with how things are going, including a Covid spike in our county since July 4th, if not mandatory vaccination (I hope not), masking up again for sure.

Partly that, but mainly their brains, specifically the decision center (pre-frontal cortex), is not fully formed until 23 (woman), 25 (men). They lack the "equipment" to make good decisions.

NFL is following the science. Which is that there are different rules for vaxed and unvaxed.

First, you actually check to see who is vaxed. Second, you get color coded credentials based on your vax status so that everyone can actually follow the rules.

Unvaxed rules: Daily testing, wear masks, social distancing, not allowed to eat meals with teammates, no media or marketing activities while traveling, no sauna or steam room, confined to the team hotel while traveling.

Vaxed rules: You're good.

That's what "following the science" actually looks like.

Also, NFL does not cancel games for Covid. So unvaxed teams risk having to play short handed. Like last season when the Broncos had to play a game with no quarterbacks available.

The problem for the general populace is that we're not allowed to actually follow the science.

So you have to pretend that everyone at Walmart is vaxed (when they obviously are not). Or you have have to treat everyone like they are not vaxed (LA County) even though many are.

all true. mixing in arguments on other topics here... there are many steps/guidance/rules/actions that have been taken by our government, health and otherwise, last year and a half and prior, that can lead to skepticism.

never more so than in a quickly developed vaccine in our present day -- information flying in from everywhere. and from our bubbles.

there are quite a few things that have led me to being skeptical of what hhs and cdc are stepping up and putting down. i don't consider myself grossly misinformed. there are quite a few intelligent people that aren't skeptical at all of the same things i am. mixing it all in for all society will come with bumps.

I'm only concerned with HS right now and hopefully there won't be need for anything mandatory re Covid, other than masking, which students are used to. Obviously, college vaxx mandates are a problem... lots of law suits ahead.

Bring on the lawsuits...as long as there's a medical exception (and maybe a religious exception), mandates make a ton of sense and will likely withstand any legal challenge.

Don't want to get vaccinated, do your schooling online. Same for high schools.

To clarify. There will be a few losing lawsuits that will get thrown out of court almost immediately. And then no more will be brought because there’s no point.

Just like the nurses who sued saying their hospital employers were violating the Nuremberg code by requiring vaccines. Those plaintiffs are now unemployed.

All schools have to do legally is provide an accommodation to non vaxed. Like online.

The only way for the mouth breathers to avoid mandates is for them to appeal to their mouth breather representatives to not put mandates in place. Which unfortunately works in a lot of places.

You come off as quite authoritarian at times, "should be" being a good example. The Covid vaccines have problems... politics aside, each individual needs/has the right, to weigh the risk-benefit of their specific case. My teenage daughter is old enough, intelligent enough, and informed enough to make her own healthcare decisions. Those decisions are different than my personal decisions, made on behalf of myself re Covid. She also understands that if vaxx becomes mandatory at her HS, she will need to reevaluate her original decisions. I hope it doesn't come to that and she isn't put in that position.
