... in very rural Howell county Missouri (Trump country) there are services to provide vaccinations discretely, no one will ever know (at least that is the claim). People don't want to be seen in a healthcare facility, don't want people to know they have been vaccinated or are even considering it.
Springfield (closest hospital center / city to Howell county) is in deep trouble. Patients are beginning to be transferred to Kansas City and St. Louis as beds fill up.
Both counties have sub 40% vaccination rates.
The governor blames the hospitals.

Black people are the most undervaccinated racial or ethnic group in the US. More than 45% of the US population is fully vaccinated against Covid-19, but coverage among Black people is less than half of that, at about 22%.

Yesterday, news broke that, under pressure from Republican leaders, Republican-dominated Tennessee will no longer conduct vaccine outreach for minors. Only 38% of people in Tennessee are vaccinated, and yet the state Department of Health will no longer reach out to urge minors to get vaccinated.
This change affects not only vaccines for the coronavirus, but also all other routine vaccines. On Monday, Tennessee’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tim Jones sent an email to staff saying there should be "no proactive outreach regarding routine vaccines" and "no outreach whatsoever regarding the HPV vaccine." The HPV vaccine protects against a common sexually transmitted infection that causes cervical cancer, among other cancers.
Staff were also told not to do any "pre-planning" for flu shots events at schools. Any information released about back-to-school vaccinations should come from the Tennessee Department of Education, not the Tennessee Department of Health, Jones wrote.
On Monday, Dr. Michelle Fiscus, Tennessee's former top vaccine official, was fired without explanation, and Republicans have talked about getting rid of the Department of Health altogether, saying it has been undermining parents by going around them and straight to teens to promote vaccines.

Vaccines Should Be Mandatory,' Says Woman Wearing My Body, My Choice T-Shirt
PORTLAND, OR—During a conversation at work Monday, local woman Reighnye Leighton argued that the government should just mandate that everyone get vaccinated. She made this argument as she wore her favorite, well-worn "My Body, My Choice" T-shirt.
"Vaccines should be mandatory," said the woman who goes out and protests every weekend that she should be able to get an abortion at any time because it's "her body, her choice."
Leighton argued that though people do have a right to privacy and to make their own healthcare decisions, ultimately, the government can overrule that if it's in the interest of saving innocent lives. "If it saves one life, it's worth it," she added, though she believes every woman in the nation has the right to end a life inside of her if it becomes inconvenient.

A fraudulent intent, however carefully concealed at the outset, will generally, in the end, betray itself.

I'm a Walmart shopper myself. The Mrs is the one in my house who goes to Whole Foods.Damn mouth breathing, knuckle dragging, walmart shoppers. Eff em' right ggait?
Which is how I noticed, about 6 weeks back, that they were basically begging people over the loud speaker to swing by the pharmacy.
"Free vaccine shots! No waiting! No insurance needed! Come on by!" And when I strolled over, nobody there. Given how hard it had been to get shots in March/April, the contrast was beyond striking.
I really hope these folks wake up and smell the coffee in the next six weeks or so. If not, we could see a repeat of last fall/winter for the part of the country that isn't vaxed. My house will be completely normal for TG, but other houses will be a mess.
I don't understand why anyone (Wally shoppers or POC) at this point can't figure this out. 99.5% of deaths are unvaccinated. Crazy.
P.S. They really need to step on the gas with the clinical trials for the 6-12 kids. That really needs to happen so back-to school doesn't turn into another cluster.
Boycott stupid. Country over party.

Re: All things CoronaVirus
last i saw 12-15s were at about 35%. stepping on the gas for 6-12s isn't going to help much in avoiding a cluster. if r0 truly is closer to 6 with delta, there's going to be infection happening. and there always was going to be.
and as it's a one lane construction zone (20k per day infection in the whole u.s.), that "maybe by the fall" may very well go back to "early '22" anyway.
my hope is our very high numbers for seniors gets better, same with any immunocompromised if they can vaxx, and the numbers at least for 50's and maybe 40s get a bit better over time.

Re: All things CoronaVirus
I never thought Covid would be gone anytime soon. I can live with something that’s not too disruptive. We will see what the fall brings. I have hope that the fall peak is 1/4 to 1/3 of what it was last year. That would be a big step. Anything better than that is a home run. Time will tell.wgdsr wrote: ↑Thu Jul 15, 2021 12:32 pm last i saw 12-15s were at about 35%. stepping on the gas for 6-12s isn't going to help much in avoiding a cluster. if r0 truly is closer to 6 with delta, there's going to be infection happening. and there always was going to be.
