Murphy graduated high school in 2019. He had a normal senior HS season and then played a bunch for Hopkins in spring 2020. He was with the team for fall ball this past year, but left the team shortly before the 2021 season started.

Murphy is going to play. He probably won't start on attack, but he's going to play. He's the real deal. At the very least, he'll find a spot on the EMO up top or on the wing as a righty bomber.

Murphy > Malever

Still only allowed 1 ball on the field, right? Chemistry matters, All-Star offensive roster didn't gel for Duke in 2021

Yep. Maryland’s handled it much better in recent years and I trust Tillman, but also haven’t brought in this many big pieces in one year. Again, Tillman knows what he’s doing but there is a tricky balance here to be navigated. We’ll see how it goes.

Duke 2021 was like the NHL All-Star team that played against the long-standing Soviet National Team in the 1979 Challenge Cup.

Literally thrown together with little time to gel (despite efforts to keep lines from the same team together), the NHL All-Stars included legends like Guy Lafleur, Bobby Clarke, Ken Dryden, Brian Trottier, Mike Bossy, Larry Robinson, and Dennis Potvin. I think most of the team is now in the Hall of Fame.

Even so, the Soviet National Team was a real team (albeit a Soviet all-star team) that had practiced and played together much more than the NHL All-Stars.

After Duke … err, the NHL All-Stars … took a 1-game lead, the Soviets won the next two games, outscoring the NHL All-Stars 11-4.

Great propaganda victory for the Soviets until Team USA whipped essentially the same Soviet team in the 1980 Olympics.

So, there you go … Duke s*cks.

Could the last piece to the puzzle (FO) come from Virginia?

I'd rather Blanchard from Hobart but any additional option will do. Tygh was an elite recruit; maybe there's some potential in there, even if he could be a victim of the new rules

We know who Tygh played behind. Tills knows these sweetlax players. Playing consistently on Memorial Day ( well they get there) has its advantages. Gotta try and play that early game on Saturday.

Long to follow Bernhardt path to football

Per Xanders twitter
Maryland's second team All-American midfielder Kyle Long has entered the NCAA's grad transfer portal for football, multiple sources told @Inside_Lacrosse. He'll play the next two seasons for @TerpsMLAX and look to play college football in the fall of 2023.

Kyle Long had a real good senior year at Springfield,
a wide receiver, he was a big part of a real top run
for Springfield football.

He'd be a terror as a slot receiver, I'd imagine.

If you use all of your eligibility in one sport how many additional years can you play in other sports?

the rule everybody was using before covid was you have 5 years to play 4. of any sport. so you could do a year of football or whatever in the 5th year.

with covid, everyone was granted a do-over on participation for '20 spring (and '20 fall and '20-'21 winter). with these football extensions, it seems to apply at least to a 2nd sport as 5+ (5 1/2).
one year eligibility if you've been at it that long.

I believe the season run from July to June. So playing a spring sport and then a fall sport would be two years.

that's fine. 5 to play 4. of any sport. am i not clarifying your question?
if you play 4 straight years of lax, you're done.
if you play football (or lacrosse, or both) you can play any of the next 4 of 5 years. you can mix and match. you have 5 calendar years to complete (4 for participation of any sport) once you enroll.

A: Khan-Maltz-Wis

1st MF: Bubba-Long-Malever

2nd MF: Donville-Koras-Brennan

EMO: Khan-Kelly-Wisnauskas-Donville-Malever-Bubba

SSDM: Puglise, Smith, Coffman, Higgins

LSM: Geppert, Sherrer, Zappitello

D: Makar-Prybylski-Rahill

G: Mac-??

FO: Wierman-??

I could see them going Malever-Khan-Wisnauskas kind of like they did at the end of the championship if they feel they need as many guys on the field who can draw slides as possible.

If not, i think you see Malever in the Connor Kelly Nominal Midfielder Who Never Leaves The Field role. Slide down for Maltz when the first midfield comes off, stays on for every offensive possession. I think he’s just the kind of talent who will need as many possessions as possible.

Prybylski move is interesting, like Wheels I wonder if this is impacted by Schirtzer not being able to contribute as much Year 1 as expected. But he’s a real good player who can start for sure.

Everything else is already set except for FO and a backup goalie. I suppose they can go with goalie in-house but idk...I would make a move there if possible. FO is the big one. You’re not going to find an AA in there, but I think you need as many options as possible like they had this year to at least give you a numbers advantage over teams.

Either way, this is a team that can get back to Memorial Day and take another run at it. Top 2 team to start next year IMO.
Donville might be the best midfielder on the team.
He’s awesome. He’ll probably start. And his shooting gives the team something it needs. But they’ve got a lot of guys worthy of seeing the field every time. Lot of people to keep happy. I just think Malever is a guy who will be hard to keep off the field with his dodging and play making and will need starting spots. And it’s a lot easier to run a grad senior on the 2nd MF than it is a sophomore who you want to be your main X attackmen at some point.

But we’ll see what happens. They can go a lot of different ways.
I’d agree, but Fairman is the guy Id expect Malever to jump. Malever may also be a better attack option than Khan. In any case Benson has some pieces to play with.
With respect, do not underestimate Keegan Khan. Heck, in the 2017 Inside Lacrosse rankings of incoming Freshmen, Khan didn’t even make the list. And guess who went on to win 2018 Big East Freshman of the Year? Khan. You want a player like Khan at X because he has uncanny instincts and knows how to read the field. That’s why Khan chalked up more Assists than Goals last season. BUT when Khan sees an opportunity to to score a Goal, he’s fearless — often doing so unassisted. If you watched the 2021 Big East Semifinal v G’town, Khan scored 5 Goals - more than any G’town player. Finally, Khan says he’s right-handed, but also shoots equally well from the left. Doesn’t seek the spotlight or media attention. He’s the definition of a team player. He just wants the “W” and the opportunity to play with other elite players. Khan prefers to “fly under the radar” — and that is just one of his characteristics that makes him a powerful force.

Edited to fix link to article:
Khan is a rightie also.

Khan's "handedness" was addressed by Coach Corrado in an article in USA Lacrosse Magazine:
Villanova coach Mike Corrado has watched his under-the-radar star grow for the better part of five years, and he still isn’t sure what hand Khan would prefer to use.

“He claims he’s right-handed, and I’m convinced he’s left-handed,” he said. “That’s a pretty good compliment.”
